ABOUT XIANIX BARRERA: Xianix Barrera is a captivating performer who is recognized as one of New York City's finest emerging flamenco artists with a riveting authenticity in appearance, style and attitude. Xianix began her flamenco studies in New York and has continued with flamenco masters Andres Peña, Alicia Márquez, and Concha Vargas in Madrid and Sevilla, Spain. Xianix has performed at various venues in the tri-state area including the South Street Seaport, La Mama Theatre, Drom, B.B. King Blues Club of Times Square, and at the F.I.T. Haft Theater. She has appeared on MTV, Univision Channel 41, the Wall Street Journal and Sirius XM Radio. Xianix was awarded a coveted scholarship to attend the 2008 Cultural Traditions Program (Flamenco Dance) at Jacob's Pillow, taught by Noche Flamenca's Soledad Barrio. In 2010, Xianix successfully completed the advanced program dedicated to the complete formation of flamenco dance at the renowned academy Amor de Dios in Madrid. In 2011, she founded her own flamenco company, Sabor Flamenco, which premiered to a sold out audience at the Poet's Den Theater in Spanish Harlem. ABOUT SABOR FLAMENCO: SABOR. Flamenco Performance: a traditional Flamenco show to include vocal (cante) and musical (guitar/cajon) numbers, with full-length group and solo dance numbers. Options include: one dancer or up to four dancers and from traditional Flamenco to Flamenco fusion/Spanish classical. B. Flamenco Lesson: a lesson in a fun and interactive beginners flamenco class that will customized to your students/audience needs. We introduce the elements of flamenco dance: from braceo (arms), zapateado (footwork), palmas (rhythmic hand clapping), concluding with a short choreography. Duration can vary. C. Flamenco Performance and Lesson D. Flamenco Lecture/Demonstration: an interactive and entertaining lecture with your audience using live demonstrations. We discuss Flamenco's history and background, the different elements and props we use, all in our wonderfully elaborate costumes. The demonstration includes a performance of song, music, and dance. To conclude the lecture we engage the audience in a small class to learn some aspect of Flamenco i.e. palmas (hand clapping), zapateado (foot stomping) etc. *Lengths vary by option and client needs *Amplifier, microphones, and portable stage can be provided
