Guitarist David Chu and vocalist Lonnie Chu have been bringing authentic traditional and modern flamenco to upstate New York since 2009, playing for school groups, restaurant patrons, corporate events, wedding receptions, festivals, theater audiences and private parties. David has been playing jazz, pop and Latin for over 30 years, while Lonnie has been singing the same genres for, well, even longer than that!
Flamenco shows are generally quite involving, given the highly rhythmic and passionate nature of the music. Lonnie can even teach your audience how to do the palmas – hand-clapping – and jaleo –shouting to encourage the musicians – that are a part of any authentic flamenco experience. Finishing a set with rumba in a Gipsy King style, you may find yourself jumping up to dance.
You may like to hear their Latin standards such as “Bésame Mucho” and “Perfidia,” some songs in French such as “La mer” and "Les feuilles mortes" and/or some of the songs of the Great American Songbook canon - think Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, the Gershwins and the like.
David and Lonnie can provide a show with plenty of audience interaction or keep it light and listenable for background music. They'll work with you to create a custom playlist that is just right for your party, event or venue. In addition, you'll find your business dealings with them pleasant, straightforward and professional. Puente Flamenco can make your event truly something to remember.
