Rick May began playing violin in school orchestra at age
11. But he soon discovered rock music, quit the orchestra,
and has never looked back.
Then, after years of playing electric violin in various
local rock bands, he discovered the local Irish session
scene, and found a home. He has played in countless pub sessions,
built up a solid repertoire of traditional Celtic fiddle
tunes, and established working relationships with
many players from the local Irish session scene. He can perform as a solo fiddler, or with guitar
accompaniment, or can assemble a larger Irish band for your
With his years of experience and broad range of influences,
he can tailor his performance for any occasion, from a
formal wedding to a rollicking Irish ceili dance. And if a
good old-fashioned Irish ceili is what you're after, he
also can provide a dance caller to help your guests "star
in their own Riverdance."
Rick also plays piano and sings, and can provide an hour or two of good-natured, unpretentious "piano bar" songs for your occasion.
