Nightingale Jazz Band represents the golden age of jazz, soul and R&B music. Evoking the vibrancy and intimacy of vintage jazz, speakeasies, and classic Hollywood scores, the band provides the perfect backdrop for any event! Nightingale Jazz Band began when vocalist Nora Ritchie and pianist Alex Clough struck up a musical friendship. Both interested in playing classic jazz music in the tri-state area, the duo decided to make a band that brought vintage jazz into present-day. They have been playing ever since and have brought these joyful to sounds to some illustrious venues, including the United Nations, Manderley Bar at the McKitrick Hotel, Metropolitan Club, Flatiron Rom and regular appearances at the Lambs Club and Rainbow Room at the top of Rockefeller Center!
Nightingale Jazz Band present vocal jazz music that feels good and adds elegance and sophistication to any style of event. We have an extensive repertoire and are quite flexible in our configuration, ranging from solo piano to trio to a large ensemble with horns. In addition to jazz, Nightingale plays a wide variety of danceable music, from old school renditions of doo-wop, soul and Motown to 80's pop, Michael Jackson and current top 40.

Alex and Nora, and their band-mates are a group of incredibly talented musicians. They played at our wedding and we couldn't be happier with our choice. From the beginning they were extremely helpful customizing a play list for us, and making sure everything was running the way it suppose to. On the day of the wedding their performance was excellent and well received. They kept the party moving and didn't allow for a dull moment. So many of our guests approached us to rave about the band! They were an absolute pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend them for any event!

I hired Alex and nora to play for a party of around 400 people , and they were great. Their sound was superb , the playlist we discussed was executed beautifully . The crowd loved them. And I as well enjoyed every song played. I would definitely recommend Alex and Nora for your next event.

I was looking for a jazz band for our wedding cocktail hour that would fit our speakeasy theme, keep all ages happy and create an elegant and entertaining environment. In that search, I found Alex and Nora.What set them apart was not only their sound, but their customer service. Alex is an absolute delight to work with; very professional and accommodating.I knew he and his bandmates would deliver the elegance and sophistication in which we were seeking and I could not have been more right. They were a huge hit with everyone and I continue to receive compliments about their performance. I hope I have an excuse to work with them again!
