The Dixie Duo was formed two years ago by Mike Eaton and Doug Watts, two retired music teachers from the KC area. The have been performing as a duo in many senior centers and around the area at weddings and funerals. Mike and Doug each have been playing music for over forty years. Mike was formerly with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and spent time playing in LAs Vegas show rooms with the likes of Frank Sinatra, DEan Martin, Sammy DavisJr. and Liza Minelli to name a few. Doug was a well known high school band director at one of the largest districts in the state. His bands went to all of the bowl games and also to the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC as well as the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasedena, Ca.Mike currently enjoys susbstitute teaching in the Independence, Mo. School Dist. The Duo also has a large long list of irish tunes for ST. Patrick's Day events as well as a big band book for those kind of occasions. When playing irish tunes the two are called The Blarney Brothers, and when playing big band music they all themselves Big Band Bash. And wait , there's more. During the holiday season Mike and Doug wear Santa hats and play holiday music as Santas' Helpers. Everytime they have performed, the audience has just adored the duo and asked for them back time and time again. They mix it up with both dixieland music and a bit of comedy that is always presented in good taste. One would think that the duo are actually brothers but they are really just great friends who have known each other for more than thirty years now. They can promise their clients that if they are hired for any event to do that event with professionalism and energy that is off the charts and they will be entertained with style and compassion.
