Our Swing groups go from solo piano to the duo featuring Rose Marie on piano & Bert playing trumpet & drums to the trio, quartet or quintet adding string bass, sax or guitar. (check our different sound clips for the sound and style you want)
SPECIAL NOTE: To get a cohesive band sound and presentation, we are consistent in having our regular musicians always available for each and every performance. We use proven substitutes only in emergencies.

I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an incredible, soulful band to play New Orleans influenced jazz at a wedding, party or function of any type. It's the perfect choice - not so loud that you can't sit and have a conversation if you'd like to - but good luck sitting still in your seat when they start!"

"Uptown lowdown jazz band quartet was just perfect for our summer wedding. The setting was a beautiful lavender farm on Vashon. This band set the tone perfectly for the wedding. They are AMAZING! We requested numerous songs, all of which they played perfectly and at just the right time. They are highly professional and incredibly sweet. I would love to have them play an event or party again one day. LOVE THEM!!!"

"I'm so happy we were able to book ULJB for our wedding. They were the second vendor we booked after our location and we couldn't be more pleased with the decision. The band was wonderful, and even worked with my Husband to surprise me with a special song (Bare Necessities, from The Jungle Book) for our first dance - I had no idea that this was going on and was tickled pink when I heard the first few bars. :) I had multiple guests asking where and how we found ULJB because they were just perfect. (Even our wedding photographer loved them!) I can't imagine our wedding without them. I'm only sad we don't have the money to book them for every little party we throw! ;D"

Mr. Barr and the Band were wonderful. When I had talked to Mr. Barr about what I was trying to do, (Celebrate Black History)by sharing the history of the music and the hardships of the time for Black Artist. Mr. Barr shared history, insight of the music, and gave an excellent show and overall, I believe that people gained a new respect for the music and were impressed by the band. At the end of the show the Band answered questions and demonstrated some of the answers as well. I feel very fortunate to have had an opportunity to meet and work with the Uptown Lowdown Band. "The ULJB was one of the highlights of our wedding. They agreed to come up to Bellingham from Seattle without any additional fees and were set up and playing when we arrived at the reception from the ceremony. The ULJB was accommodating of our requests (changing from a 4 to a 5 piece band with only two weeks notice) and played for >3 hours promised. We were a bit disorganized and they brought harmony (literally) to our event. Only criticism would be that the "first dance" song that was played was different than the one we requested, but I'm a bad enough dancer that it didn't make any difference and our guests never knew. Everyone loved ULJB. Recommend highly!"
