DESCRIPTION:
The Magic of Ireland has its feet planted firmly in tradition: not only the dancing feet either. The music presented by the show reflects hundreds of years of tradition. Some of the melodies you will hear have been around for centuries, and for centuries people have enjoyed the lively, upbeat sound that the music delivers. Our musicians, who all come from strong musical traditions and backgrounds, present the music in a time honored and simple manner so that you may enjoy these old melodies as much as people did centuries ago. This simplicity and attention to tradition is what sets the “Magic of Ireland” apart from other dance shows. Instead of glitz, glamour and technology, we rely on the ethereal sound of the wooden flute playing a haunting, centuries old air or the relentless drive of a fiddle ripping into a lively reel, or the wail of the Uilleann pipes leaning into a ferocious jig to captivate your senses and bring you into the tradition.
Our show is entirely live. There is no recorded music and the dancers perform live with the musicians every night. Not only is this a further illustration of our commitment to tradition, but also ensures that the show has a wild, spontaneous energy, infectious and different for every performance. This spontaneity and live energy is exactly the same as it would have been for the musicians, dancers and listeners of centuries ago. Our show will transport you to such a time and place and make you a part of the performance. The listener is as much part of the music as the musicians and our musicians will encourage you to clap along, hoot and holler. Not only is this a very important part of the tradition but it also adds to the energy of the live performance. These elements combine to produce a show that is a shining example of the tradition that has withstood time, technology and geography to be presented for you live this evening and it is this tradition that is the “Magic of Ireland”.
