Description

We bring to the stage a rendition of Louisiana music. Our performance is highly energetic. We captivate the crowd through our danceable music which many refer to as happy music. We provide great entertainment for our audiences & involved them in our show. Our repertoire is versatile. It includes traditional Zydeco and Cajun to sophisticated New Orleans tunes & more.

Bonne Musique Zydeco (BMZ), literally "good zydeco music," is a 6-member band specializing in the Creole music of Louisiana and east Texas. BMZ draws upon the style of traditional Cajun and Creole musicians, and the influences of the blues and New Orleans artists of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s to create a blend of music designed for dancing.

Bervick J. Deculus, a native of Louisiana, bass player and leader of BMZ, founded the band in 1991. He is carrying on the tradition of his well-known family, which includes internationally recognized, Grammy Award winners Queen Ida and Al Rapone, and the innovative Beau Jocque, a circuit to draw in the area between New Orleans and Houston, who also gained international popularity before his early death in 1999.

The band members are all veteran Los Angeles professional musicians. Clients such as Rick Bates, Open Sky Music Festival states, ". . . it was not only just the fabulous performance that made an impression, the band members also left a lasting, positive impression. All musicians were professional, polite and so easy to work with."

BMZ has recorded three CDs, Gumbo Mix - 2001, Keep On Dancin'- 2002 and Smokin'Zydeco - 2005. Some of the performance highlights are Grammy Awards After Party, The Ahmanson Theatre Rededication, Livitt Pavilion - Pasadena, LA Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, George Carlin Show Wrap Party, The Orleans Casino - Las Vegas, Fremont Street Experience - Las Vegas, and a host of festivals and street scenes.

Feedback

  • This band was fabulous!!! It delivered a top quality show and provided great entertainment. The audience danced all night and they were very well entertained. The repertoire covered a variety of dance tunes. In addition to Zydeco music, they played some R&B, Blues, and jazz. The guys are all very polite and displayed a great sense of professionalism. They are top quality musicians. I would absolutely have them again and pay their requested fee because they are worth every dime. -- Robert O, San Marino, CA, 1/25/2009
  • Bonne Musique Zydeco put on a terrific show! They played a great mix of zydeco, blues, New Orleans 2nd line, and were able to handle all the special requests from the audience. Everyone was up on the dance floor all night. The band was professional, extremely talented and a lot of fun! I was impressed that they started right on time because a lot of bands are still tuning up after the agreed upon start time. I would strongly recommend Bonne Musique Zydeco for any event... not just for a mardi-gras theme but for any good time! -- Cynthia L, Beverly Hills, CA, 12/6/2008
  • Bonne Musique Zydeco performed for our wedding reception, and they threw a terrific party. They learned a special song we requested for our first dance, agreed to MC for the reception if we needed it, and kept people on the dance floor all night long. People I never would have expected to get up and dance were out there partying with everyone else. The band played great music and had a lot of fun, and their enthusiasm was contagious. I recommend Bonne Musique Zydeco to anyone who wants a good band for a good party! -- Aj H, Newport Beach, CA, 2/22/2009
