SHERMON KERR _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 Hillandale Manor, Norwalk, CT, 06851 ~ ~ I am a native DJ from Trinidad and Tobago the home of Steel Pan, Soca and Calypso. My career began in my teenage years under the wings and mentorship of DJ Flexi, also known as, The Ruler, one of the island's most recognized and respected DJ and as to date, he is still one of my closest friends. During that time he allowed me opportunities to familiarize myself with his musical sets. As my passion for playing the music quickly developed, he taught me the skill of blending and mixing. Being at the side of DJ Flexi, I was privileged enough to meet other prominent DJs and Producers, such as, Juice International who brought me on board of their team. Venues played in Trinidad and Tobago: Yearly Events: * Carnival * Great Race * Heritage Festival * Concert with Buju Banton and other prominent reggae artist Other Events include: * Birthday parties * Weddings * Block parties * Bar-B- Qs I migrated to Connecticut in 2000 eagerly and anxiously to jump-start my musical career. However, due to circumstances I had to take on a different approach and use another one of my skill, which was barbering. Fortunately for me, I was able to meet DJ Jonesy, one of my customers. He was the stepping-stone for me to get back into music; so I attended Scratch DJ Academy founded by Jam Master Jay. Since then I've played at: * 75th birthday party (Brampton, Canada) * Refinery Rooftop Bar and Lounge (NYC) * Brick House Bar & Grill (Stamford) * Bradford's Grill & Tavern (Norwalk) * Waterside Elementary School Annual Dinner Dance (Stamford) * Wedding (Tobago) My Caribbean background has allowed me to fuse Soca- Calypso, Reggae and other genre of music including Top 40, Pop, House and Hip-Hop for any occasion or event.
