Description

unBrothers, ft. members of Blood, Sweat & Tears, play the best of Vintage Rock/R&B. As accomplished performers, recording artists & songwriters, they put their unique spin on Vinyl-era classics, B-sides and mash it up with the odd current hit & original songs.

The band formed around Hammond organist John Freund. A multi-instrumentalist, John's Hammond playing gives the unBrothers their old-school authenticity. He also sings lead and back-up vocals. John has two CD's as bandleader with 'Bigger than a Breadbox', and has recorded or appeared with Paramore, Mike Jackson and the Soul Providers (later known as the Dap Kings), Rod Morgenstein, Deep Banana Blackout and well-known NYC-based bands The Healers, and Xmembers. Very few people are capable of John's level of expression and ability to work the Hammond into any setting.

Lead vocals and guitar are in the highly competent hands of John Alden, a long time band mate, and music school friend, of Mr. Freund's, John performs over 200 shows a year, with vocal chops on a par with greats. He is known for his range & versatility, shown as he effortlessly handles songs made famous by Robert Plant, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Blue Bland and others. His latest, self-penned, CD release is Dreams Don't Lie; and he has recently appeared at the Count Basie Theatre.

Paul Finbow, on drums & Vox has recorded and toured on both sides of the Atlantic, most successfully with the John Brunning Band (Decca Records), Steve Linton (MCA) and various outfits in the USA, Sinopoli, Blue East (with Freund), Vibe Merchants, and Mythic West. Paul fills out the UnBrothers sound with creative drumkit playing, percussion and sweet high harmonies.

Dave Gellis has been playing lead guitar for Blood, Sweat & Tears since 1985. During several hiatuses, he has toured and/or recorded with Meat Loaf, Stanley Clarke, Chuck Negron (of Three Dog Night), Phoebe Snow, David Clayton-Thomas, Pieces of a Dream, Roger Glover (of Deep Purple), Dave Valentin, Angela Bofill and many others. This includes numerous television appearances as well as touring throughout the Far East, Europe, Australia and nearly 50 states. He is the featured soloist on Roger Glover's 1984 release, "Mask".

Jeff Gellis has been playing bass for the past several decades, a pursuit that has taken him all over the world. Playing in the house band at Preachers in NYC with harmonica virtuoso Will Galison, the club would regularly be filled with the likes of Paul Butterfield and Jaco Pastorious. Later Gellis became house bassist at SOBs in NYC. Along the way, Jeff was playing with Phoebe Snow, members of the Saturday Night Live band, Steely Dan, Jackson Brown, Ronnie Spector as being leader on a number of projects. In the late 80's, Jeff teamed up with brother Dave Gellis as the rhythm section for Blood Sweat and Tears, touring all around the globe and appearing in major venues and TV programs including Top of the Pops. The Tonight Show, Joan Rivers Show, and many others. Jeff also plays double bass, is a producer, writer and arranger.
