Identity Theft is a band that performs at quite a few weddings, but it would feel strange to call them a wedding band. What comes to mind when you hear the term "wedding band"? For them, it's corny matching outfits, groan-inducing jokes, and unholy "traditions" with cute little names like "The Chicken Dance" and "Macarena".
If we're going by stereotypes, Identity Theft would fail conclusively as a wedding band. So why have they become one of the most in-demand entertainment acts in North Texas after only existing for a year? Because Identity Theft knows the difference between cool and lame. Comprised of five "kids" (all of average marrying age), they have a good idea of what appeals to their generation, and they have perfected a show that makes the guests WANT to stay, and unable to stop dancing. Every couple wants the same thing for their wedding reception, and it's never for it be a litany of traditional events while guests stand around and clap politely. Identity Theft is the only band in Dallas that functions like a DJ. That means you will hear the newest, most popular songs on today's charts. We monitor real-time DJ polls monthly to make sure we are playing the most requested songs. This means that you'll probably always hear Brick House and Journey, but you will also hear the new Usher song that came out last week, you'll hear live mash-ups, you'll hear inhuman voice effects, you'll bounce to 808 kick drums and walls of synthesizers. Every member of Identity Theft is a knowledgeable programmer or producer, which means you get live looping, choreographed lighting, and a band that can literally reproduce any song.
