Description
Shakedown Street is a classic rock band playing hits from the 60's, and 70's. We have been together for over 11 years. We are also a Grateful Dead cover band. So, you can hire us to be either a Grateful Dead cover band, a classic rock cover band, or, a combination.
Who Hires Us? Typically, we are hired for backyard BBQs, backyard weddings, Grateful Dead birthday parties, college fraternity parties, college graduation parties, etc. This past summer we played for Brown University graduates on the beach in Rhode Island. We also had great fun playing for an MIT fraternity party on their rooftop on Beacon Street in Boston.
How Much? For the backyard events that are within 50 miles or so, we average around $500. The costs increase if the travel requires us to stay overnight. In general, we all have day jobs and play music for lots of fun and a little money to cover costs of equipment, gas, etc.
We have excellent harmony vocals so we can rock out to songs like, "Mustang Sally" and "Hang on Sloopy", "Not Fade Away", etc. We have a lead guitarist that rivals the famous guys like Clapton - crowds actually yell for Jim to play on and on as if he were a "guitar hero" (no kidding!). Rounding out the band are a rhythm guitarist, bassist, and drummer. We can play easily for hours and hours, and if you're dancing, we will play the song until you drop! We play the slow ones and good ole rock 'n roll!
We will also learn a song or two for your event!
Lastly, We have fun and so will you! See out reviews!!

Feedback
- This band is Unreal! Even without their keyboarder/saxaphonist, Shakedown Street shook the whole block from our rooftop. Their jam session was psychedelic, funky, and everything in between. Jim can make his guitar do unspeakable things. They will make sure you have a great time. -- Daniel P, Boston, MA, 9/6/2009
- Shakedown Street was great, it's too bad your rating doesn't go to a 10!! We will be hiring them again and again. The feedback from our family members, staff and residents was great , I had many comments wanting to know where they would send their comments. So I think you can tell we were very pleased!
Mary Ann -- Mary Ann H, Quincy, MA, 6/20/2009
- Shakedown Street was not only incredibly talented and energetic, but were also really friendly. They played great songs and were open to requests. They put on a fantastic show and kept the party rocking. Great band. -- Tate H, Little Compton, RI, 5/19/2009
- Shakedown Street played a party that I threw at the House of Blues Foundation Room and they rocked it. Everyone at the party had a blast and Shakedown Street was the force that drove the entire evening. I will definitely be hiring these guys again and I would recommend them to anyone looking to bring an event to the next level with live entertainment. -- David O, Boston, MA, 12/30/2011
