Mighty Groove was formed in 2010 with a single purpose: to put a band on stage that featured the best vocalists, a top-notch rhythm section, and horns that couldn't be rivaled. Combating a music scene oversaturated with B-rate musicians and weekend warriors wielding old axes, Might Groove is a handpicked group of highly trained young professionals who love to entertain you in any and every style - from cocktail hour jazz to 60's doowop, from 70's funk to 80's pop, from 90's Alternative to today's modern hits, and everything in between.
Each performer has years of experience playing music in an incredible variety of settings and styles. The musicians of Mighty Groove have shared the stage with Fergie, Pink, and the Dropkick Murphys, to name a few.
More importantly, for every "Mighty Groover," music is no hobby - it is a chosen pursuit to which a lifetime has been dedicated. Because these performers work full time at their craft, the caliber of their playing is at the very highest level. To put it simply, they love what they do.

John Stevens and Gretchen Bostrom - Mighty Grove prides itself on having two incredible vocalists, John and Gretchen. John is a critically acclaimed singer who was launched to fame on American Idol, Season 3 where he charmed audiences with his velvet voice. Since his success, he has gone on to sing with many notable jazz and big band groups. John is a veteran performer with experience entertaining large audiences at fundraisers, galas, weddings, and other special events. He is joined by Gretchen, our female vocalist, whose pristine voice captures and combines the best qualities of Sarah Vaughan's incredible soul and Ella Fitzgerald's impeccable style. Together, John and Gretchen create a unique harmony that is unmatched by any Boston singing duo.
Boston's Rhythm Section - As the high hat sizzles and the piano grooves, the bass lays down his line in precise time that keeps this rhythm section in the upper echelon musicians. Mighty Groove is honored to have a rhythm section whose members are top call musicians for touring bands. They have recorded with Pink, hit the road with The Dropkick Murphys, and won awards from the prestigious ASCAP society.
Horns are the Real Deal - Nothing is worse than hearing your favorite songs covered up by cheesy, out-of-tune, out-of-time "synth horns." The heart of Mighty Groove is the 4-piece horn section, specially crafted with the versatility to cover any genre. Our trumpet can proclaim the opening fanfares of Penny Lane, or top out the phat hits of a funk tune. The trombone brings style and grit to any classic, ala Fred Wesley and the great James Brown horn section. Our French Horn lends a gentle mood to more intimate music and can also soar over the band to lead them in hits. Finally, the alto sax provides stunning virtuosity and the finesse that is the finishing touch for every quality band. Whether swinging solo to Mustang Sally or harmonizing to the sultry sounds of At Last, this horn section takes Might Groove over the top.
Young and Energetic - Unlike some of Boston's other cover bands, whose members are past their prime, Mighty Groove is a young and lively group. Mighty Groovers love the classics of rock and jazz, grew up with radio playlists of the 80's and 90's, and continue to immerse themselves in the music of today. Whatever the style, they are the best around and bring an energy that keeps the whole room dancing.
