Group Bios:
Susan Lucht - Drums/Vocals:
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is where Susan began her musical career. Beginning with guitar at the age of 8, she was drawn to drums and percussion instruments by 11. She has worked as an orchestral percussionist as well as a drummer in rock and blues bands. Since relocating to Oregon, she has played in several popular northwest cover and blues bands. Adding background vocals, a solid beat and high energy to the mix, Susan is more rock star than a second grade teacher. (Her day job...)
Ron Joplin - Lead Guitar:
Ron began playing guitar at age 7, and has studied under the late Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. Ron has opened for acts such as Elvin Bishop, Charlie Daniels, Brooks and Dunn, Billy Dean, Confederate Railroad, and Asleep at the Wheel. He also did extensive studio work with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Ron relocated to Vancouver in 1997 and has played with many top local bands, including previous collaboration with vocalist Shannon Roberts.
Kevin Venables - Veteran club and session player Kevin Venables brings a rock solid bag of big-bass licks to the rhythm section. He has worked in a variety of mediums: radio, theater, dance, and musical groups. After getting a degree in business communications from Portland State University, he worked on the air at several Portland radio stations. Kevin has worked with such local performers as Jim Mesi, Mel Solomon, Ralph Black, and Jon Newton, also performing as a vocalist with the Oregon Symphony Pops and the Seattle Symphony Pops. Kevin performed in a variety of musical groups, most recently in the popular local band – Wiseguys. Kevin is a master at the bass and is loved by all of his band members.
Shannon Roberts - Lead Vocals:
Shannon is truly the shining star in Cover Story. With her powerhouse vocals and professional stage presence, she has led some of the region's top bands such as the Portland Blues Broads, Bambini and the Curves, Haywire, and The Stage Door Johnnies. She has performed at the Vancouver Jazz Festival, Portland Trail Blazers games, the Crystal Ballroom, Rose Garden and many more. Able to perform a wide range of styles and genres, Shannon never fails to wow audiences.
Jesse Cox is a 28 year old lead guitarist/singer
who specializes in guitar awesomeness,
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Jesse Cox was
educated in Boston at the Berklee College of Music and is a private guitar instructor at Beacock's Music in Vancouver. Jesse has played in several cover and original bands, ranging from Beatles tributes to traditional Jazz, to an AC/DC Tribute band playing the role of Angus Young. he is also a guitar teacher at Beacocks. Jesse is truly a magnificent addition to this band.
Brent Boisvert - Bassist: Originally from Las Vegas, NV, Brent started performing music at age 5 and by the time he got through Jr high school he was proficient in just about every instrument in the band room. He has played venues from Hawaii to Carnegie Hall. He settled in the Pacific Northwest with his wife in 1992 and since then he performed with a variety of local musical groups, including the "One More Time Around Again Marching Band" and several "Gypsy jazz" bands in the Portland area, but his favorite is holding down the low end for Cover Story!

- Coverstory did a wonderful job at our giant wedding!! Kept the party atmosphere going and their set list was great!!! Can't wait to have them play again soon for us! Thank you! You made our reception exactly what we expected it to be. Free Bird!!! :) -- Emily D, St Paul, OR, 11/11/2011
- Cover Story was extremely accommodating. They invited us into their homes, helped me outline the events of the reception, and thoroughly entertained our guests. I highly recommend this band for your wedding or any function for that matter where you really want to shake it up. They are professional and they really know how to appeal to a very diverse crowd and get them up on the dance floor. -- Heather B, Parkdale, OR, 9/24/2011
- Cover Story did an AMAZING job at our wedding. They took the time and learned our first dance and even learned the song that I danced with my dad to. Cover Story had all the guests dancing and having a blast during the reception. All the music was upbeat and very appropriate for a wedding reception. All the guests were impressed with all the different styles of music and raved how great they sounded. I would recommend this band to anyone who is looking for a talented and a wonderful sounding band. We had a wonderful day and having Cover Story there made the day even better. -- Annette D, Molalla, OR, 8/6/2011
- They were a real hit at our annual alumni reunion, rocking the stage and keeping people dancing from start to finish! They sound great, cover a wide range of popular music that appealed to a wide cross-section of ages, and had a high-energy stage presence. I received a number of post-event compliments on the band. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a fun party! -- Ken H, Portland, OR, 6/25/2011
- WOW! Cover Story was PERFECT.
We really needed some organization in pulling off this surprise and without hesitation the bands Manager Susan really stepped up to help us with the planning, timing and organization of this very special event.
I have never booked an event like this, especially one On-Line and we couldn’t have been more pleased. We had so many people asking us where we found you and how could they hire you for their party’s.
Thank you, we couldn’t have pulled this off without you guys, especially Susan and we really appreciate all the extra special attention to detail that made our event a very special one for our family.
-- Harrison V, Vancouver, WA, 11/19/2011

- We hired Cover Story for a holiday party at the Crystal Ballroom. What a great venue, but also, what a GREAT band! They played all the great classics we love and a few new ones also. They were very professional, both before the party (dealt with the venue directly since I had no clue about power, lighting, sound, etc.) and during the performance. The age range was great, but everyone had fun. Whether they were listening at their table or dancing the night away, my staff thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Thanks for the great night and the wonderful memories! -- Liza A, Portland, OR, 12/11/2010
- We hosted our first annual NW BMW Motorfest for the Oregon BMW CCA. We were looking for a band to play a good general selection of music and Cover Story was recommended to us. We listened to them online and hired them. They blew us away. They exceeded our expectations and the feedback from those that attended the event was extremely positive. The band rocks! We look forward to hiring them again. And its so cool to see a female drummer. Susan, you rock girl! The band is very talented and enjoyed the variety that you all sang and played. Great voices and awesome talent. Thank you all, Anthony and Ligia Werre. -- Anthony W, Portland, OR, 9/25/2010
- Professional, talented, and good natured. A group anyone should consider to fullfill a special evening. Their sounds generated enthusiasm in the crowd, and they read their audience well. -- Mauricio C, Salem, OR, 8/14/2010
