Description
Check out this CBS review of the band!...
Alternate Take is a group of four talented musicians that have joined forces to make one of the most impressive bands on the east coast. Each member has played professionally since our teen years and educational backgrounds include music degrees and Masters degrees. Not only are we well versed in rock, r&b, soul, contemporary party and dance music; but also original, jazz, and classical music. Everyone in this band is a full-time professional musician.
This is not just your typical wedding or cover band, this group of songwriters/composers/producers can write or perform in virtually any style of music. If there is a song you want performed, Alternate Take can do it. Some of the famous stages these musicians have played include Jazz Fest of New Orleans, the famous Cotton Club of New York, Carnegie Hall, Bobcats Arena, and Panther Stadium to name a few. They've shared the stage with national acts like Ellis Marsalis, Bonnie Raitt, Hootie and the Blowfish, Archie Bell, Starship, Michael Brecker, and many others.
Alternate Take knows how to adjust the music we play to fit the crowd. One of the advantages of knowing so many songs and styles is the ability to modify the performance to the mood and occasion at hand. Corporate events, private parties, and festivals are performed with energy, enthusiasm, and style. We customize our shows according to the people we play for, versatility is one of our strongest attributes.
If you're looking for an experienced group of musicians that are still in touch with current music to play your wedding…look no further, we take pride in our ability to learn new songs, yet still being able to connect to multiple generations with our extensive song list. Alternate Take's musicians have done hundreds of weddings collectively, and know the ebb and flow of the event. Although each wedding day is unique, the experience of doing so many helps us to be prepared for anything that might happen, we are all professionals and enjoy doing this type of performance. We'll also work with you on song lists and dj material on set breaks, if you like to get involved in music selection. We can even play classical piano in your ceremony, or for less traditional musical palates, acoustic guitar. Also, jazz standards are a great choice for cocktails and dinner, all musical tastes are within our playing ability. Your cake cutting, flower toss, and garter toss will be announced by the band if needed. A wireless microphone is provided for any announcements for your special day. Your job is to enjoy yourself, let Alternate Take, take care of the music!

Feedback
- We couldn't have been happier with Alternate Take. We were nervous going into the event because we hadn't seen them or talked to anyone that had, but they were fantastic. The biggest help was their level of professionalism and flexibility. They clearly gave us one less thing to worry about and they needed very little attention to make everything fall into place. They followed our song list very closely and there was very little they can't do. They were great for both the younger and older crowd with everything from Journey to Lady Gaga to any Jazz standard you could want. We heard from everyone else at the event what a great band they were as well. -- Josh M, Raleigh, NC, 6/12/2010
- Not a thing you can say that's negative with Alternate Take they were everything we could have asked for in a band. They learned all of our "special" songs and played them perfectly. Very talented band who can play anything and play it well! Kept our party dancing all night. Not only does there music rock, but Grant makes a Great MC and kept everything on schedule. Thanks for helping to make our wedding night perfect!
-Kate and Sean -- Sean E, Wilmington, NC, 9/18/2010
- They were great beginning to end, the songs kept flowing and it really was the most fun night of our lives! Grant was great to work with, and I would highly recommend this group! -- Judy G, Pinehurst, NC, 5/8/2010
- performance was great and everyone has given me great feedback regarding the band.
others were asking to possibly use Alternate Take for future weddings.
-- Nick D, Charleston, SC, 5/1/2010
- We had Alternate Take play for our daughter's wedding in Charleston. They were very accomodating to our needs, even when we needed to change the date of the wedding a few months before the date. They learned a special song for their first dance and performed it beautifully. They are very talented musicians and singers. They had the opportunity to play for the Family Circle tennis players on the day of our daughter's wedding. They had to leave a bit early, and arranged for a DJ to play for the remainder of the reception. My only regret was that Alternate Take was not there for the entire reception as the guests LOVED them! -- Patti T, Mount Pleasant, SC, 7/24/2010
- We were very happy with the band. They were better than expected and they helped make my daughters wedding a perfectevent. -- Tammy M, Charleston, WV, 5/30/2010
- Alternate Take was a great choice for our Spring Formal. They were full of energy, and really knew how to work the crowd. I would book them again. -- Matthew P, Asheville, NC, 2/6/2010
- Alternate Take was prompt and professional with their feedback and contact with us prior to the event. They learned the songs we asked them to, they played everything we wanted, they kept the dance floor rockin' all night long. They are exceptional musicians, their sound set up is perfect, and they did a fine job of keeping the party moving, as well as handling MC duties. We received numerous compliments from guest on the band, and I am a musician and music snob myself and can tell you this band is great, and helped us have a fun, exciting, and memorable wedding reception. -- Josh C, Pinehurst, NC, 12/31/2010
- Alternate Take was fantastic. They helped us with an unusual first song which was perfect, got the dance floor packed, and it stayed that way the rest of the night! Multiple people from the wedding have commented that this was the best wedding band they've ever heard, and have asked where and how I got them. Grant was easy and accommodating while we were working together in the lead up to the wedding. The song selection was great, the performance was great, everything was great. If you want to have fun and have a packed dance floor, get this band for your wedding!!!! -- Richard H, Columbia, SC, 12/18/2010
- The Band was great. Everyone enjoyed hearing them. Great variety of music. -- Jennifer M, Jacksonville, NC, 12/4/2010
- We booked Alternate Take for our November wedding in Atlanta and were so pleased with them! All of the guests gave endless compliments on the band, their variety of music, and overall talent. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding band!!! -- Lauren D, Atlanta, GA, 11/6/2010
- This band was incredible. They entertained everyone at our wedding from the young to the old which is truly impressive. This band provided light music while we were eating but also played stuff to keep us dancing all night. This band really made our wedding. Everyone we have seen after the wedding has commented on how much they liked the band. We highly recommend this band to anyone trying to please a broad audience. -- Jaclyn P, Waynesville, NC, 10/9/2010
- Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
Alternate Take was the cherry on top of our event. We had a Swing Dance for our Seniors and these gentlemen created the perfect atmosphere and created the most amazing music through their talent and their instruments. Our residents and our guests are still raving about their appearance. Additionally, they were extremely accommodating when it came to timing and scheduling. If you are looking for a professional group of amazingly talented individuals - hire Alternate Take!!!! -- Heather F, Sumter, SC, 9/16/2011
- Very professional and easy-to-work with group. Kept lines of communication open throughout the wedding preparations and delivered as promised. Couldn't be happier with the outcome. -- Alex A, Charleston, WV, 8/20/2011
- Grant and the guys of Alternate Take were amazing- in my opinion, they made the wedding and are one of the best bands out there. They learned our special requests, made sure all of the wedding events were announced and ran smoothly, and have lots of talent to boot. They kept everyone dancing the night away (even my grandmother who had double knee replacements and had previously swore she would never dance again). Their DJ-ed songs (during breaks) mixed so seamlessly with their live songs that I even remarked to my new husband at one point, "I didn't know that they had this song on their list!" Our guests raved about how much fun they had, definitely recommend! -- Amanda R, Augusta, GA, 7/23/2011
- Grant and the rest of Alternate Take performed spectacularly the night of our wedding. They were wonderfully prepared for the event and we couldn't reccommend them more. They were all very professional throughout the evening and put on a show that my husband, family and friends will be talking about for many years. Thank you for all the effort! -- Samantha S, Blowing Rock, NC, 6/18/2011
- These guys were great and more than willing to go the extra mile. Even after plans were jostled a bit, they still pulled through and helped make the night a great success!! -- Dillon R, Charleston, SC, 4/30/2011
- Alternate Take was great! Very professional before, during and after the wedding. Guests raved about them and knew how to work the crowd. Would definitely use again! -- Ashley M, Southport, NC, 4/16/2011
- I got nothing but great reviews and everyone had a blast. Thanks Alternate Take! I look forward to booking you again! -- Kevin S, Winston Salem, NC, 1/26/2012
