Simply Shirley

Simply Shirley is an "old school" comedienne who is making her presence known nationwide. She considers herself to be an eight track gal in an IPOD world; and says her inner child is now outward bound. In other words, there's still a whole lot of "jelly left in her roll". After retiring from working for the federal government, she decided to reinvent herself and pursue comedy as a second career. She is a graduate of the Matt Kazam School of Comedy at the DC Improv Comedy Club.

Using her unique comedic style, Simply Shirley spreads joy and laughter from churches to comedy clubs. She has been performing for audiences young and old - - especially striking a cord with the ones in the middle. Her comedy is rated "E" for everyone. She also performs at fundraisers, women's events, birthday/anniversary celebrations, family reunions, senior events, spoken word showcases, and corporate and political events.

Simply Shirley declares comedy is her ministry, and has found that the everyday moments of life make for the best comedy. She says: "Sometimes all you have to do is tell what happened because life and the lives of the people around you are routines waiting to be performed."

Simply Shirley is a member of The Christian Comedy Association (CCA).

Proverbs 17:22 says, "A merry heart is good medicine……" and Simply Shirley does her best to take the stuff of life, turn it into a dose of good medicine and make 'em laugh.

• She came in and immediately she was one of us: friendly, approachable, graciously professional lady. She felt her audience and delivered appropriately and they responded enthusiciasticly. she was funny! the life of the party! We were all reminiscing of her jokes the next day and to those that missed the event.
