Sam Adams

"He don't look like the guy on the beer bottle . . ."

Smooth. Clever. Clean. Colorful. Funny. These words are used often to describe Sam Adams. That's me - Sam Adams, the comedian who jumped on stage to perform comedy for the first time in 2001 at age 41. No, I don't look like the guy on the beer bottle. For the record, I'm the Denver, Colorado-based stand-up comedian who was a winner at the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival.

I am a headline performer at comedy clubs and corporate events. I have also shared stages with touring comedians and music recording artists - an eclectic, genre-jumping list of nationally-known performers ranging from comedians Frank Caliendo, Jake Johannsen, Tammy Pescatelli, John Pinette and Mike Epps to music's David Sanborn, Al Jarreau, Rick Springfield, The Guess Who, Starship and The Spinners. The Denver Business Journal once gave me a favorable review for "bringing down the house with a string of well-delivered lines that were notable for their lack of profanity, scatological or sexual references." (I was pleased by the review - especially after learning the definition of scatological!).

Add "actor" to my resume, as I have filmed several commercials. I'm also a musician, having played trumpet (and tuba too) since fourth grade!

Off the record, I have more than 20 years of experience as a sports journalist, with appearances on ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS and NFL Network. In 2003 I received the Print Journalist of the Year award from the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. I have covered championship events at all levels - most notable four Super Bowls, two Olympics, two NCAA men's basketball Final Fours, one Stanley Cup Finals and one World Series.

• Sam was hired to perform at our Pink Flamingo Event which is an all girls fundraiser and a breast cancer awareness event. Sam showed up before the event started to go over all the details, he was professional, kind, sincere to our cause. His act was funny and very clean, great for our event. All the comment cards that were turned in at the end of the event had only wonderful things to say about Sam's performance. His act was enjoyed by women of all ages and all walks of life.
