Description
Hi, my name is Gaku Murata. I'm an alumni of "Berklee College of Music" who worked at Berklee Vocal Department as a accompanist, and I had provided my service for functions, parties, weddings, and restaurants/bars around New England. I recently moved to Los Angeles to expand my business. I mainly play classical, jazz standards, popular music, and Latin music, however I will be more than happy to take a couple of requests from you. I'm confident that I'm going to be able to play whatever songs you requests. I also have classical string duo/trio and jazz quartet, which consist with experienced professional musicians. Please check descriptions of my bands below.
-Hirsch & Murata String Duo consists of cello and guitar. It has been performing classical tunes for ceremonies, and jazz standards for cocktail hours and functions. (Violin is also available up on your request.)
-Gaku Murata Quartet/ Organ Trio specializes in jazz standards (Duke Ellington, Jobim, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Miles Davis, etc.) but can provide any style to fit the mood of your special occasion.

Feedback
- He did a beautiful job! Everyone had nothing but wonderful things to say about his performance, and I received compliments all night about my choice for ceremony musician. Also learned a new song per my request and played it perfectly! Could not have chosen a better musician for my wedding! SO PLEASED! -- Jayne L, Westfield, MA, 10/10/2010
- I was a bit nervous about hiring musicians based only on a couple of clips from a website, but I needn't have been. They were great, and they helped make the event absolutely perfect.
In fact, one of my favorite private moments of the day occurred after most of the guests had left and I was running around doing wrap up. I realized they were playing Alicia Keys' "No One". First off, it sounded amazing with just cello and guitar, but more importantly it was the exact right thing for me to hear at that moment.
I could not be happier. -- Ian F, Salem, MA, 5/23/2010
- Gaku Murata did an absolutely amazing job, he got to our ceremony site before everyone else, and was there playing when our guests did arrive! He did an excellent job a very talented guitarist! Everyone was talking about what a great job he did! Wonderful, I would recommend him a million times over! feel free to email me about him too, Mish6143@msn.com
Michelle and Larry
08-14-2010 wedding ceremony -- Michelle D, Melrose, MA, 8/14/2010
- Gaku was awesome to work with. He played solo acoustic guitar for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and he sounded great. We had numerous guests come up and tell us how much they enjoyed his playing. He was also very professional and prompt. He was detail-oriented throughout the planning process and quick to communicate, and very helpful at suggesting music. He also accommodated a special request from us to add the "Jaws" theme to the end of "Here Comes the Bride" and did so with perfect comic timing. I would definitely recommend Gaku and would hire him again if I have another event! -- Cathy M, Plymouth, NH, 5/15/2010
- Gaku is very professional, prompt and cordial. He plays beautifully! Next time, we will ask him to play for an audience that comes to just hear him play. He is that good. I am really happy to have found him.
Thank you, Gaku! You made our event as classy and fun as we wanted it.
Rita -- Rita B, Topsfield, MA, 5/30/2010
- We were so glad to have found Gaku on GigMasters. He was the perfect fit for our cocktail hour. I am quite detailed and was hesitant to hire him without a live viewing but given the quality of his audio clips, we decided to book. I called him in advance and he was very accomodative to our requests. He arrived on time, appropriately dressed, and was a super courteous and gracious vendor. He had a great range of songs and you could really feel the talent in his guitar playing. He did so without dominating the room, keeping it a very elegant atmosphere. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Thanks Gaku! -- Mike O, South Berwick, ME, 10/1/2010
- Gaku was excellent. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. His performance during our wedding ceremony was so skillful and appropriate that some guests near the back of the room weren't even aware that it was a live musician. I would highly recommend Gaku to anyone seeking guitar for their wedding ceremony. -- Matt S, Boston, MA, 4/10/2010
- Gaku was great! When the bride changed her mind at the last minute for her processional song, he just cooly went with it. He is a very pleasant professional and we would definitely hire him again. Everyone thought he was wonderful. -- Linda N, Chelmsford, MA, 9/18/2010
- There were so many things during our wedding planning that we were concern with BUT NOT with Gaku. Once we booked him, we had no doubt that he was the best choice for us. He was very prompt with emails and fulfill all our requests. Best of all, his music was beautiful. Thank you Gaku for making our wedding so special! :) -- Ouk L, North Andover, MA, 4/24/2010
- We hired Gaku to play our ceremony as a solo guitarist for our 10.17 wedding. We are so happy that we did! He was wonderful to work with - very easy going & friendly. Walking down the aisle to Gaku's guitar playing was beautiful. He is a very talented artist & I would recommend him to anyone! Thanks Gaku! -- Rachael D, Cranston, RI, 10/17/2009
- Gaku is really a talented musician and he made our wedding ceremony beautiful! I recommend him with the highest regards for his skill, professionalism and all around greatness. Thanks so much Gaku!

Kathleen Foley -- Kathleen F, Newport, RI, 8/7/2010
- Gaku was a tremendous hit at out party! Music was not only spectacular but it set the tone for a perfect and memorable day.Over 100 people attended our function and all raved at how professional and delightful his music was. Any one fortunate to book Gaku is extremely lucky! Can't wait to book him again! -- Lisa F, Plymouth, MA, 7/17/2010
- Gaku was very easy to work with and extremely professional - he arrived on time and performed as requested. He was even willing to learn a new song that was special to my husband and I for our wedding ceremony. Thanks! -- Jennifer G, Bristol, RI, 10/9/2010
- Gaku is the man. He was a huge part of the success of our Bastille Day Party here at Gaslight Brasserie. The diversity of music that Gaku performed was astounding... Hendrix to Lady Gaga. We will definitely be talking to him again for more parties in the future. -- Chris R, Boston, MA, 7/14/2010
- Gaku was terrific to work with. I could not have been happier with his performance. He learned the song "Heavenly Day" by Patty Griffin and provided the perfect accompaniment while my sister-in-law sang at our ceremony. He played acoustic guitar during a small backyard reception and then played for a much larger group during our traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautifully Gaku plays. He was flexible, incredibly nice, and very professional. I highly recommend him! -- Jessica L, Winchester, MA, 6/26/2010
- Gaku made me a little nervous when he pressed for a separate contract after I sent my initial deposit - it seemed in poor taste to ask me to pay for parking for him and his band - all after we agreed to a price and I sent a non refundable deposit. In the end my fears were without reason and Gaku (playing guitar) and Victoria, I believe was her name (playing cello)were incredible in every way. They were both professional and accommodating to changes and they both played beautifully. I would recommend using them at your function.
-- Matt M, Boston, MA, 9/2/2010
- Gaku and his partner were very talented and a joy to work with. His communication prior to the event was consistent and responsive. If I have another event, I would definitely book them again. -- Sarah H, Peabody, MA, 10/16/2010
- Gaku Murata was very accomodating, flexible, prompt, professional, and talented. In a nutshell, he did a great job. Our gig was about the shortest one could get, yet he treated it with as much attention and professionalism as I would expect at a major event. To us, it WAS a major event, and that's how he approached it as well. We would recommend him in a heartbeat. Thanks for a job well done! -- Donald K, Newburyport, MA, 6/19/2010
