Description
A harp at your wedding or special event will play a big part in making the day beautiful and unforgettable. It will look gorgeous, sound heavenly, and inspire glowing comments from your guests.
Tatyana Shapiro professional, conservatory-trained harpist from St. Petersburg Russia, is devoted to the magic of the harp, delighting her audience with a varied and distinctive repertoire, including music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods; traditional Hebrew and Christian melodies; and an expansive selection of contemporary favorites.
Tatyana enjoys a varied free-lance career playing for weddings, civil partnerships corporate events, recitals and orchestral work. Tatyana prides herself in delivering a high standard of performance, with impeccable presentation, whilst maintaining a reliable and friendly approach. She proudly plays a Camac Athena concert harp which is considered to be a distinguished harp of exotic beauty, visually and audibly.
An experienced recitalist and orchestral player she regularly performs for music societies, music festivals and at many other special events.
Tatyana Shapiro began her study of music at the age of 7 in her native city of St. Petersburg, Russia. She fell in love with the harp at the age of 11, and as a talented young harpist became a delegate to the National Youth Harp Competition in Moscow, Russia. As a highly gifted musician Tatyana attended the Ohtinsky Cultural Center Music school and the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and graduated from the well known St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music in 1998. While in Russia, Tatyana taught harp at the St. Petersburg center for music and arts.
Tatyana moved to the United States in 1999 where she received her Master's degree and worked on her Ph.D. in Music and Harp at the University of Arizona. She studied under Dr. Carrol McLaughlin. From 1999 to 2002 she was a part of World's largest harp touring ensemble Harpfusion. Tatyana's arrangements for the harp as well as her playing can be found on Harpfusion's latest 25th anniversary CD and DVD.
Tatyana continues to perform professionally as a solo harpist as well as an ensemble and orchestral harpist. Her wide repertoire includes music from classical and baroque to modern. She has performed internationally with orchestras, opera companies and ensembles in Russia and Europe, including a solo performance at the renowned Godunov Concert Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia, and in the United States as principal harpist with El Paso Opera Company and El Paso Symphony Orchestra and also as a harpist with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Tulare County
Symphony Orchestra and Jewish Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles. She has also worked as a recording musician at Capital Records in Hollywood.

Feedback
- Tatyana was not only very professional, but was very warm and caring. She made extra efforts to ensure that she provided just the exact type of music that I wanted. She gave much attention to details to ensure that her performance was nothing short of perfect. Also, she dressed beautifully (I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful dress!!). She was just perfect- I would hire her again if I ever needed a harpist and I would very strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a harpist! -- Melissa H, Altadena, CA, 10/21/2006
