Don Shannon

Originally from Northern Ireland, Don has over four decades of experience in piping and teaching bagpipes. Since moving to America Don has imersed himself in the fulltime profession of bagpiping, playing at weddings, funerals, memorials and corporate and private events. Don is also the Pipe Major of The North Texas Caledonian Pipes and Drums.


He has performed for Queen Elizabeth and most of the British Royal Family, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Tony Blair, President George W. Bush and countless other digniteries and V.I.P.'s. Don has appeared on ABC-TV's Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson. Don has appeared on numerous occasions with The Chieftains, Ireland's premier musical ambassadors, and will be touring with them in January, 2006.

• Not that I have ever hired a Celtic Bagpiper or anything similar to this, but Don Shannon has set the standard extremely high! He was extremely friendly and gracious from the first phone conversation, to the final good bye after his performance. Longview is about a 2 hour drive from his location in Dallas, and he came out to my house in the pouring rain, and arrived 30 minutes early. He moved from the front porch where he got soaked, to the back porch, where it was hard to hear him, to the garage, which was the perfect location.
