TORONTO BASSIST Dick Felix is a member of the Toronto Musicians' Association and has more than 30 years experience as a professional musician, performing a wide variety of musical styles. Having focused primarily on jazz, working with many world-renowned musicians, Dick has performed live jazz music at most of Toronto's top jazz venues.

DAN IONESCU - Guitar - Romanian-born Dan Ionescu was acclaimed by jazz critics as the top Romanian jazz guitarist for 12 consecutive years. During that period, he recorded frequently at the National Radio Studios and for Romanian Television. Since arriving in Toronto in 1996, Mr. Ionescu has been very active in the jazz community performing at a variety of venues with local high profile musicians. He recently completed a very successful short tour of Japan.

PAT LABARBERA - Saxophone/Flute - is widely acknowledged as one of the world's most exiting saxophonists and has been among the key members of the Toronto jazz scene for more than 35 years. By the time he relocated to Canada, he was already well-known for his solo work with the bands of Louis Bellson, Woody Herman, and for seven years, touring and recording as featured tenor saxophone soloist with the Buddy Rich Band throughout every major city in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Mr. LaBarbera has performed and recorded consistently with Elvin Jones since 1975, appearing at premier jazz festivals all over the world. He has played on every major network television show including Johnny Carson's Tonight Show several times, and worked with the biggest entertainers in the business including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Chick Corea, Woody Shaw, and McCoy Tyner. Called 'a true intellectual of improvisation' by Justin Time Records, Pat LaBarbera has been among the key members of the Toronto jazz scene for the past three-plus decades, claiming Junos and 'Jazz Report' Awards for writing and performing with his own trios and quartets all along the way. Pat began teaching at Humber College in 1976, at York University in 1985, and at the University of Toronto in 1986. He has also taught privately, at the Banff SFA Jazz Workshop 1977-80 and 1987-8, and at McMaster University 1986-8. In 1977 he became an instructor at the Jamey Abersold summer jazz camps held on US university campuses and in the late 1980s taught at similar camps in Canada. He has also served widely as a clinician and adjudicator.

JOHN MACMURCHY - Saxophone/Clarinet/Flute - has performed and recorded in Canada, France, Great Britain, Greece and the
USA. John has been a sideman for Henry Mancini, Cleo Lane, Linda Ronstadt, John Dankworth, Peter Appleyard and Guido Basso as well as a host of R&B stars. He is also well-versed in the classical and early twentieth century repertoire but jazz is his first and lasting passion.

LARISA RENEE - Vocals - Larisa received her diploma from HUMBER COLLEGE in 1998 where she won "THE HIGH NOTE STUDENT BURSARY" for "most promising" of her graduating class. She also received an HONOURS B.A. from the UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO in 1992. Through "U of T" and YORK UNIVERSITY, she has taken part in a wide range of WORLD MUSIC ensembles, including East Indian and Bulgarian singing, and has studied with well-respected jazz vocalists. Larisa has sung with many different groups ranging from solo to Big Band and in a variety of clubs and festivals -- notably the Toronto and Beaches Jazz Festival and the Canadian Music Festival.

DON ENGLERT - Saxophone/Flute - Studied music at California State University Northridge. He toured for nine years with bands such as Louis Bellson, Buddy Rich, and the Canadian rock band, Lighthouse. Since moving to Toronto, he has worked at the O'Keefe Centre, The Royal Alexandra Theatre, The Royal York Hotel and Hamilton Place. Don has performed with Tony Bennett and Stevie Wonder. He has worked as a studio musician for the CBC in both television and radio and has performed on many film soundtracks and records.

KURT LUND - Saxophone/Flute - Following studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Kurt moved to Toronto and over the years has a well earned reputation as a creative, hard swinging saxophonist with a beautiful tone and great phrasing. He works steadily in the Toronto jazz and jobbing scene, in small ensembles on alto and tenor sax and as lead alto in several big bands.
