Barbara Harris Kovacs

Barbara Harris Kovacs is a classically trained vocalist and pianist, who enjoys performing several different styles of music. Whether singing an operatic aria, performing solo while playing piano or guitar, belting out rock and motown tunes with the band Timepiece, or jazzing it up with Big G and the Cool Cats - she has a great time doing it all!

Ms. Kovacs has been a full-time musician for over fifteen years, playing in clubs and venues all over Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania, including The Bitter End in NYC and the Wien Theatre in CT. She has recorded her first original CD, which is a blend of rock and blues vocals, with shades of classical sounds, much of the music being acoustic and piano-driven. Barbara has recorded, arranged and composed with other artists as well.

Currently, Barbara is performing with Timepiece, a five-piece band based in CT, which specializes in weddings, corporate events, clubs and other venues. She also is the vocalist for Big G and the Cool Cats, a 14-piece jazz band based in PA. She currently performs as a soloist for weddings and recitals, as well as playing out as a solo/duo performer. In 2004, Barbara was the featured vocal coach on MTV’s “Viva La Bam,” which is aired all over the globe, and in 2005 had the opportunity to perform with jazz legend Les Paul on Broadway in NYC.

Ms. Kovacs is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of West Chester University, with a Master of Music degree in Music Performance. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Connecticut State University with a B.A. Music degree in classical vocal and piano performance, in addition to a B.A. in Communications. She currently teaches voice and piano at Taylor Music in West Chester, PA; Barbara also directs and conducts the chorus at St. Joseph’s School in Downingtown, PA. For the past three years she was the Choral Director at the Unitarian Fellowship in West Chester, PA. Before relocating to PA from CT in 2002, she was an adjunct vocal professor at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, and was also Director of Music at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Redding, CT.
