Crooked Dice is a 4 piece blues rock original/cover band, rooted deep in the blues while exploring new musical directions. Active in the Twin Cities music scene and beyond, Steve, Mike, Brett and John are rocking audiences with their own versions of blues and rock classics that covers a wide variety of feel good music and down and out blues. Think Jim Morrison singing lead for Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble.
Mike O'Malley – Guitar
Mike started playing guitar at age 9. After high school he completed the guitar program at Music Tech (now McNalley/Smith College of music) and played in various bands around the Twin Cites, including Medicine Man and Tin Pan Alley. In 2006, Mike released a CD with the instrumental band “No Walls”. In 2008 they released their second disc on Guitar9 records and Mike began writing an instuctional column for Guitar9. “I've always been into players that had virtuoso technique and tons of soul.” Currently Mike teaches guitar out of his house and is combining technique and soul to create his own Blues rock style with a progressive edge. “Finding the right players is always hard. I feel with Crooked Dice I have a great platform to do what I want musically.”
Brett Mousseau – Bass
Brett's musical interests grew from top hits of the 1960s, Motown and the psychedelic sounds from the later 1960s. After hearing Grand Funk Railroad's Live Album in 1971, Brett felt a strong urge toward playing the electric bass guitar. “Mel Schacher's overdrive, from their Live Album release, is still my favorite bass OD ever.” Further influenced by groups like Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Ten Years After and ZZ Top, Brett went on to play in a variety of bands, including Toney, The City Apes and EZ Action. After his beginnings of hay wagon stages, beer tents, and schlepping gear in and out of too many bars and taverns to count, Brett has finally found a couple of real brothers in Crooked Dice.
John “JC” Caserotti – Drums
John “JC” Caserotti started hitting things at the tender age of 3. He started with his Moms pots and pans on the kitchen floor, his desks at school, and anything else with a relatively flat surface. He was rocked by the British Invasion and he knew he wanted to be a drummer. He started out playing and jamming with throw together bands on the West Bank, the Twin Cities version of Hippie Heaven, and developed an abiding love of the blues which has grown through the years. Now, as drummer for Crooked Dice, the sky's the limit!
Steve Raab – Vocals
A morning shower and roadtrip-car virtuoso, Steve enjoys crooning to the “pretty womens” and applying doses of bluesy grit when necessary. With a background in theater and choral music, he loves the stage and is thrilled with the sound that Crooked Dice has come up with.
