Although Midland Park is a newly formed band, the four musicians who make up the group have all been performing for many years. Our lead singer Laura Taft is from Marathon, NY and started as a vocal major at SUNY Fredonia. Switching majors to English she teaches in the Norwich City School District. Before joining Midland Park Laura performed with area bands, Rubberside Down and Lola and the Boys. Bassist/Vocalist Dave Taft is from Bainbridge, NY and teaches physics in the Marathon Central School District. Locally Dave has performed with the bands, Charlie Sherman and the Ridgerunnners, Justin Time, Jamshack and Simplex. Guitarist/Vocalist Matt Maholchic is from Oxford NY and teaches social studies in the Norwich City School District. Matt played Guitar for a local group White Noise and while teaching in Wisconsin performed with the band Fire and Ash. Most recently he played guitar for the local band First Class. Originally from Long Island, drummer/vocalist Mark Sands recently retired from the Norwich City School District where he taught band and orchestra. He has performed throughout New York State from long Island to Buffalo. While living on Long island he performed as a freelance musician and with the trio The King's Grant. While living in the Albany area Mark was the lead singer for a top 40's band Grand Central Station. He also had the opportunities to perform with Tony Bennett and John Denver. Most recently Mark has been performing with the local band First Class since 2003.
