Description
Starlite Steelband is from Kitchener, comprised of father, mother, two daughters and a son. The group plays Calypso, Reggae, Gospel, Classical and other styles of music. Starlite has been performing for about twelve years at weddings,picnics,parties,churches,casinos and other events that require live music.

- They were early to set up. The bride and groom loved them as did the guests. Their professionalism was outstanding. They were polite and easy going people who were a pleasure to meet. I have never hired a steel band before and from my first contact from Gigmasters when I read all the reviews it was great. Wendell from Starlight called to speak with me on the phone and I was at ease knowing he would not let me down. We had several emails which were promptly returned. We can not say enough about Wendell and his daughter who performed it was an excellent and outstanding evening. We would highly recommend them for any occasion.

- Wendell and his son Andre performed for our Father's 90TH Birthday Party.They arrived at the designated time and set up quickly. It was an outdoor event and extremely hot and humid.They are true professionals and talented musicians.I would highly recommend Starlite Steelband. My Dad phoned to say what a wonderful time he had and is enjoying their CD. Dad could not resist getting up and dancing to the wonderful music.

- Wendell and Jennessa Claxton performed very well. They are very talented upon the steel drums. They were very accommodating to last minute scheduling adjustments. The only improvement they could make was for Wendell or Jennessa to give a little bit of commentary upon the occasional song etc. and have a little more interaction with their audience. They drummed extremely well, were very supportive of our cause, polite, and gracious.

- We had Starlite Steelband play for a holiday party for our Big Sister/Little Sister matches (approximately 110 people), sponsored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of London and Area. The band came early, stayed late, and was a tremendous hit. They even invited the girls to each take a turn playing steel pan and had a big line-up of girls by the end, and everyone got a turn. The group not only performed but they also talked about the drums and the music. (as per my request). They invited students and parents to come and try the drums, which helped further engage the audience in an already terrific performance.

- The band was the perfect entertainment for our pool party and campout night. We felt like we were on a beach and loved every minute of their music. We especially enjoyed the Abba songs they performed.
The only thing I would say then could improve on is their social skills. After they were done, they packed up their equipment and left and I didnt even get to say good-bye and thank them.

- Starlite made it feel HOT,HOT.HOT, on a very cold day. We hired Starlite for our wedding reception in Feb 09. it just so happened that we were hit with a snow storm around 4pm, making it very difficult for out guest and the band to travel to Brampton, but they made it and although things ran behind Starlite played for 2 hrs without thier break and it was amazing. This is one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. I was especially pleased with the professionalism of the entire band always making eye contact and smiling with the audience. - Starlite Steelband was amazing and so very professional. They were hired to play for my outdoor wedding ceremony and during the cocktail hour. The weather was somewhat questionable when they arrived for their set up so we decided to have the ceremony indoors, after they set up indoors the weather cleared up and we asked them to move outdoors they were most accommodating and very happy to do whatever they could. - Excellent band. Everyone was very happy with the music - laid a perfect groove for everyone to socialize and feel happy.
I was not impressed that the band packed up at 11:15pm when they were hired until 12 midnight. Fortunately my computer was in the next room so I showed them our contract - then they set themselves back up again. To their credit they did not sulk but played another 45 minutes very well - however, this should not have happened.
However, overall their music was awesome and laid a wonderful vibe for a very successful party. Depends what you are looking for but Starlite were perfect for our party. -- Steve P, Oakville, ON, 2/7/2009
