Description

COUNTRY - CLASSIC ROCK - SOFT ROCK - BLUES - FOLK – BALLADS - GOLDEN OLDIES - DOOWOP - ROCKABILLY - EASY LISTENING - SING ALONGS

I have been rated by Gigmasters as a *5* STAR ENTERTAINER for the past SEVEN YEARS IN A ROW, and am one of GIGMASTERS' HIGHEST RATED PERFORMERS. I don't use "pre-recorded backing tracks" like many One-Man-Bands use. Instead, I want the music to truly be a LIVE PERFORMANCE. I feel that using "Pre-recorded tracks" is the same as watching karaoke - pleasant, but no where as good or professional as watching and listening to live music.

Completely live music provides far more flexibility than pre-recorded tracks can ever allow. Flexibility with the music means a more artistic and engaging performance and more fun for your guest. I can "go with the flow" at any moment. I also bring along a lot of song list copies, and am always ready for song request from you and your guest. I am very proud of my CUSTOMER REVIEWS. They show how successful your party or event will be, and why everyone has so much fun.

My love for music and performing started when I was playing and singing on my Father's Congressional Campaign Tour. I was 5 years old. I formed my first band when I was 14. While in High School, I played string bass with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and the Oklahoma University Lab Band and Oklahoma City Symphony, and sang and played guitar with local "Rock & Roll", "Country", and "Motown/Soul" Band's in the North Texas & Oklahoma areas. I played bass with the Ike and Tina Turner Review during my early college days (before their famous split-up), and have played and sung with over a dozen small to large bands during my music career. I have had the opportunity to sing and play both on and off stage with Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Castro, Delbert McClinton, Bruce Channel, Harlow Wilcox, Edgar Cruz, Rob McNally, and a few other nationally known recording artists. I have also done session playing for other artist around the country.

In addition to having a normal corporate career, I have been a gigging solo guitar player/singer for most of my adult life. I have performed a One-Man-Show in Las Vegas (for over a year), and now specialize in Private Parties and Functions, and Corporate Events. I have a very large musical repertoire, and can mix enough different types of music during my sets to please everyone in the crowd. I am equally at home at YOUR private house party as I am on a concert stage.

While I am singing and playing the guitar,I also play a porch board bass with one foot and control a voice harmonizer with the other. The harmonizer creates instant harmonys of my voice when ever I want to add them. It makes for a very full sound, and creates some amazingly fun and full harmonies. I have high quality instruments and PA sets that will handle any sized venue, from large halls and outdoor events to small parties in private homes. I always keep very good control of the Sound Volume and make sure it is at the appropriate level for the event. Don't worry about things getting "too loud". I realize conversations and socializing are the main reason for the party, and make sure to keep the music in the background. But, when you want to Rock & Roll, I am always ready to "step-it-up".

  • Very professional, A great time!!! -- Phil H, Gunter, TX, 12/31/2011
  • I asked Roy to entertain us for our private anniversary celebration at home. It turned out to be a fabulous evening, my wife was thrilled, and I think I earned myself quite a few brownie points!! All credit goes to Roy. He is a thorough professional, and an amiable gentleman who clearly loves what he does. Highly recommended! Ravi -- Ravi K, Dallas, TX, 8/21/2011
  • Roy was top notch!! We will be booking him again in the near future. -- Ronnie M, Dallas, TX, 7/8/2011

  • Hiring Roy Harkey to play at our wedding reception was a magnificant choice. He accomadated us in everyway. From helping with the music selection, learnig a brand new song for our first dance, to speaking with the venue to make sure we accomadated their needs in sound control. Roy played the entire event. Soft music during dinner, and party music for dancing. He also was the MC. He introduced all of the bridal party and family to keeping everything on time with the cake cutting to the gater toss. I still have people asking about him. The guest had a great time and I believe Roy made the event come alive. His lovely wife also helped out. Thanks Roy. -- Jessica S, New Braunfels, TX, 6/11/2011

I felt very confident that he would do exactly what he promised and he did!! He contacted the restaurant beforehand for any needed information, arrived early and was entertaining our guests before the wedding party arrived. • my private party was exceptional with his goal being to ensure he understood my vision for the evening and incorporated everything he could to meet my expectations. In fact, he exceeded my expectations. His music library is vast and he gave me the opportunity to look through his library and make song selections and special dedications. He made sure that he was an acompaniment to the party and not the focal point which is exactly what I wanted however he has the personality not to mention the talent to carry the party all on his own if one wished. His reportoire of music is amazing and I couldn't even narrow it down because he has so many songs that choosing is a formidable but fun task as my husband and I went back down memory lane while making our selections.
