About

No. 1 New Orleans Dance and Party Band! Exciting live entertainment for all occasions and all ages.

Big Mojo Records recording artists, Porterhouse Bob and Down to the Bone perform the hottest New Orleans Mardi Gras and dance music west of the Mississippi. The band appeared on the A&E Gene Simmons Family Jewels TV show and with David Tutera on We TV's My Fair Wedding. They have performed at Disneyland, festivals and private parties. This highly entertaining seven piece party band, features the vocals and keyboard playing of Porterhouse Bob backed by his powerful horn section, The Brotherhood Horns; guaranteed to be a success at any event with an upbeat festive theme. The band covers all styles of music from Louisiana, including zydeco, r&b, boogie, funk and swing, but with an original flair. The music is always upbeat, engaging and geared to get people onto the dance floor. The majority of clients who hire this band book the band for return engagements.

Porterhouse Bob has appeared with many internationally known blues and R&B artists. His energetic keyboard playing is complimented by bass, drums, rubboard, bari, tenor and alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone and tuba. Members of the horn section inculde players from Ray Charles, Elton John, Manhattan Transfer, Loggins and Messina, Roy Gaines and other well known performers.

Porterhouse Bob and Down to the Bone has three CD's in distribution with a 4th CD 'Shake N Bake' currently in production. The band's music is broadcast in Holland, Italy, Poland, France, Australia, South America and the United States.

What are people saying about the band?

"On their vocal and instrumental arrangements, the band recalls the dedicated musicianship and spirit that came out of bands such as Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears. At the piano, Bob brings us the kind of authenticity that flows from pioneers such as Piano Red, Pinetop Perkins and Professor Longhair. When he sings, Bob gets to the nitty-gritty with all his heart. The session is a party that can go on forever; however, the album clocks in at less than 35 minutes, leaving the audience clamoring for more. Original songs such as Bob's "Whodoo Voodoo," Doin' the Fat Thing" and "Tippin' on Fo Fo's" get down and feisty, while "Who Called the Cops?" and several other jump blues allow Bob and the band to swing with passion. Tight horns and a loose rhythmic pride make this one a clear winner."

"Singing at the piano with a rollicking spirit, Porterhouse Bob tears up the joint. His 8-cylinder powerhouse band includes a swinging horn section that can't be beat".Jim Santella (Southland Blues - Los Angeles)

"A demon on keyboards and accordion...pulsing horns are used to carry the rhythm like most bands use guitar...a funky New Orleans sound..."
TH (Living Blues Magazine - Mississippi)

"Just heard you in Santa Barbara. Wow! You are incredible. Thanks again for your energy and incredible musicianship. What a joy."
(Fan after Santa Barbara Summer Concert Series)

"You're the best, the absolute best! Thank you for your enthusiastic performance and audience interaction." (Recreation Director - City of El Segundo)

"We cannot thank you and the band enough for giving the City of Laguna Niguel such a great show! Blues fans or not, they loved you! Your unique sounds, style and energy created a fun atmosphere for everyone in attendance." (Recreation Supervisor - City of Laguna Niguel)

"Yeah you have done it again with a gumbo laden feast of Southern Blues mixed into a Voodoo stew with just the right amount of spice to add to the flavor. Yes we love it (Who Called The Cops) soooooooooooooo very much and l have allocated the cd to the biggest Blues show in this city "Jumping The Blues" with Tom Sianidis... all I want is for everybody to hear what we were able to hear, great music. Perfect for PBS FM."(Peter. PBS FM Australia)

Porterhouse Bob and Down to the Bone performed at Disney's California Adventure and are currently featured artists at festivals and special events throughout California and Nevada. They continue to thrill audiences wherever they perform and are willing to travel throughout the United States and Europe.
