About
Heavy Traffic is a four piece traditional bluegrass band established in 2001. Based out of New Jersey, Heavy Traffic plays weddings, parties and festivals in the tri-state area. Founding member Earl Karlsen on mandolin and vocals hosts the Bluegrass Express radio show Saturday mornings on WFDU out of Farleigh Dickinson University. The band's hard drive can be attributed to the savvy Scruggs style banjo pickin' of Arnie Reisman. Heavy Traffic's high lonesome sound comes from the unique tenor vocals of Jeff Propert who also compliments the group with his tasteful rhythm and lead guitar. This bluegrass quartet is powered by the solid bass playing of Guy Leatherman.

"This is a fantastic band... You need them at your party. They played our backyard wedding and our guests RAVED about them- bluegrass enthusiasts and regular folk equally. In addition to making great music, they were professional and nice guys. They came to set up a few hours before the party and were ready to go well before the guests arrived. And they looked great! I'd ask them to play at my next party in a heartbeat."

"Absolutely loved Heavy Traffic on all fronts. They made our 30-person barn party in rural NJ a huge success - our guests (all ages) raved about them. The band brought a fiddle at our request and played for three hours through dinner and dancing. We asked for mellower music during dinner and some good boot-stomping dancing stuff to follow, which they pulled off perfectly. Also threw in some johnny cash and other songs at our request. This is a truly talented bluegrass band and great/straightforward guys to work with. Very highly recommend."

"Communication skills are excellent; the band came early, set up and entertained late with few breaks and a great selection of Bluegrass music; we added a fiddle which was wonderful, but base, guitar, mandolin, and banjo were excellent; the band brought a sound-man to mix and accommodate our picnic/tent wedding venue; we wouldn't give a second thought about hiring them again as they were simply terrific."
