Barbershop quartets are a type of a cappella music featuring 4-part vocal harmony with no instrumental accompaniment. Typically a barbershop quartet will have a lead singer singing the melody, with three other singers (a tenor, a bass, and a baritone) singing harmony. A barbershop chorus is a larger version of a barbershop quartet with several singers on each part. Some of the classic Barbershop quartet tunes are "My Wild Irish Rose", "When You And I Were Young Maggie", "Alabama Bound", "Rose Colored Glasses", and "Who'll Dry Your Tears When You Cry". Barbershop singers also perform popular songs from the 1950's including "Under The Boardwalk", "In My Room", and "Down By the Riverside" as well as Broadway show tunes, patriotic songs (such as "America The Beautiful"), religious hymns, and Christmas songs during the holiday season. The singers in a Barbershop quartet will usually perform wearing matching outfits such as blazers, bowties, suspenders, or tuxedos if the setting requires it.
