Description
Robert J. White is a professional solo bagpiper proficient in the Great Highland Pipes and the Small Pipes. Growing up in the Midwest with a Scottish and Irish background, Robert learned at a very young age to play guitar and wind instruments. After graduation from High School in 1966, he joined the United States Army and served in South Vietnam as a Green Beret. After returning home, he combined his career in the Army with his love of music and specialized in providing beautiful music not only for associations such as the United States Army Special Forces and for many events in North Carolina and surrounding areas where he resides with his wife and two children.
Robert is well known for his professionalism, and presentation, which includes a variety of authentic Scottish attire such as different color kilts, hats and daywear jackets and enjoys performing at various functions such as weddings, ceremonies, parades, parties, funerals, memorials and much more. Though he is a master bagpiper, his musical background also includes Guitar, Fiddle (Celtic) and Harmonica. Mr. White is a member of the former City of Oaks Pipe Band and now belongs to a local pipe band in Raleigh, NC. He is also a member of Eastern U.S. Pipe Band Association, and the bagpiper for the US Army Special Forces Active Duty Personnel. Mr. White competes in the Scottish Highland Games and is an awards and medal winner competitor.

Feedback
- Thank you Robert for Playing the Bagpipes for our military appreciation night. Your performance for the last 6 years has been superb and I hope to book you for many years to come. The ceremony of you playing “Amazing Grace” and “Going Home” was excellent. Our guests very impressed with your expertise and we had great comments on your “Military Medley” and your attire was perfect for the occasion. Your Bagpipes sounded beautiful. Thanks for helping to make this a very special occasion for all the great veterans who have served our country in the past and the present. They loved your performance!!

- Robert performed at a Military Funeral for our family at New Bern National Cemetery in North Carolina. We found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful in understanding military protocol and traditions. He was extremely flexible with scheduling. Robert was very dependable, and we found him to be a man of great character. His appearance was immaculate and his performance added such a touch of class to this service. We highly recommend Robert to any one who would like Bagpipes performed at their event. -- Vickee Hinton M, New Bern, NC, 10/12/2011
- Mr. White was great! My family hand I booked him for my wedding at a garden and we were the only ones to know about him. After our pronouncement of husband and wife, he emerged from the trees and played "Mhairs Wedding". My husband and guests were so amazed and excited! We walked down the aisle to him playing and then the guests followed Robert as he played to the cocktail hour that we had set up in another part of the garden. It was all perfect. Robert was so great that at the cocktail hour the guests wanted his photo and he was in countless albums. Thank you Robert! It meant so much that we could share a piece of our heritage with our new family and guests. -- Lorna A, Fayetteville, NC, 10/8/2011

Sir Robert was very accommodating. He recommended and set up his program. He received accolades from all in attendance. Sir Robert made the event. We are looking forward to many return performances in the future. Bravo, bravo Sir Robert. We thank you. -- Keith B, Godwin, NC, 10/20/2007
- Mr White did a fantastic job! He was "johnny on the Spot" and very professional. He was very personal to my grandfather and my family. I love that he explained the history of bagpipping and the instrument itself which was very intresting to know. He had chosen the perfect songs to play according to his audience & was accomadating to the setting in which he played. I would also like to thank him for being so kind to my grandfather. It is a birthday (90th!!) he'll never forget. The whole event brought a tear to his eye and we was speachless for the rest of the night. I would like to agian thank Robert White & I would recommend him to a friend anytime. -- Cory W, Raleigh, NC, 10/13/2007
