Description

Providing high quality Scottish bagpiping performances in the Greater Seattle, Washington area since 1990, Neil Hubbard has enhanced weddings, brought a high level of traditional honor to funerals and memorials, entertained at birthday parties, and added pomp and ceremony to many other events. Neil lives in Kirkland Washington and will travel any distance to play at your event.

Neil has been the Resident Bagpiper at the Golf Club At Newcastle since 2004,piping at sunset from May through September. Neil also teaches three different Firefighter Pipe Bands: Seattle, Snohomish County and Eastside.

The majestic sound of the Great Highland Bagpipe has been used for centuries to inspire warriors, welcome royalty, mourn the dearly departed, celebrate weddings, and bring distinction to virtually any other event. This awesome and powerful instrument adds emotional impact to any occasion, and a piper always provides a striking visual focal point.

A member of the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band since 1990, Neil has performed at many diverse celebrations including twice at Carnaval in Mazatlan, Mexico, Fourth of July in Ketchikan, Alaska, and the week-long 1000th Anniversary of Clan Keith in Inverurie, Scotland. Neil has been featured as a soloist in the Keith's annual Kirkland Performance Center shows since 1998. Neil has also had the thrill of competing with the Keith at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in 2006, 2002 and 2004, when the pipe section placed 1st out of 40 Grade 4B bands!

As a competitive solo piper, Neil has perfected his musical skills, and piping judges have consistently praised him for his "great sounding pipe," "excellent tone and tuning," and "lovely, expressive playing." Neil is a successful solo piping competitor, having played on the boards in Scotland, Canada, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

Feedback

  • Best surprise ever!! Neil arrived at the birthday party playing his bagpipes. All our guests loved the music and I received glowing comments from everybody. What a hit! Neil is a very talented musician- he plays wonderful music. -- Theresa G, Everett, WA, 4/29/2012
  • Neil went above and beyond what we expected and he did it with grace, compassion and professionalism. He is an exceptional piper. His music and performance was outstanding and gave our father's memorial service the perfect setting of our Scottish heritage. I highly recommend Neil's services for any event. Neil was very accommodating, prompt, and a very kind person. Thank you, Neil, for making our service one to truly remember. -- Sandra M, Kent, WA, 5/11/2012
  • Neil is the best! He made our mother's memorial mass incredibly beautiful with his excellent, talented playing of the pipes. His compassion and comfortable demeanor are traits that put our family at ease. To top it off, our family name is Murray. Neil wore the Murray tartan at the memorial! His thoroughness in all he helped us with is something we will long remember. -- Dixie B, Tacoma, WA, 1/27/2012
  • Neil was truly fantastic to work with. He arrived early, met with our officiant and worked out any last minute ceremony changes, and was the ultimate professional for the wedding. He was so calm and put together, it set the mood as we all got ready before the ceremony. The pipes sounded fantastic; even in the large warehouse, which is terrible for acoustics, it sounded great. Walking down the aisle to Irish Eyes are Smiling is a memory I will always treasure. Highly, highly recommend! -- Sarah S, Seattle, WA, 8/13/2011
  • Mr. Hubbard was on time and well dressed. He placed himself in great position and stood in the rain waiting for us to come. He was an important part of the service without making himself a focal point. Very professional, very talented. -- Thomas H, Seattle, WA, 2/10/2012
