Description
I have been playing the uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes) for over a dozen years, and have performed in a variety of venues in Ireland, the UK, and the US. I am a professional, conservatory-trained musician with a Master of Music degree from the Longy School of Music; I have also studied with some of the finest pipers in Ireland including Eamonn O Broithe, Mick O'Brien, Neillidh Mulligan, and Kevin Rowsome. My piping was recently featured on the soundtrack of the nationally-released film "Rooters: The Birth Of Red Sox Nation".
I specialize in traditional sean-nos ("old-style") airs on the pipes, and can play jigs, reels, and other Irish, Scottish and American tunes, as well as hymn tunes or special requests. I also sing and play Irish whistle ("tin whistle"), low whistle, flute and bodhran (the traditional Irish drum), and I'm happy to include these in my performance as well. If you're interested in a duo or trio, please contact me and I can probably accommodate you; other available instruments include guitar, fiddle, cello, and Celtic harp.

Feedback
- The event was the burial of my Mother a week after the actual funeral Mass. Other than a prayer by the Priest we had nothing to add to the ceremony to pay tribute to her. Having Daniel play added what my family needed. He drove a little over 3 hours one way to be there and he did a wonderful job. He was completely professional and was even early to make sure he was set up properly. He chose songs that were appropriate and played the one we requested perfectly. I would highly recommend him to a friend. -- Sarah M, Norwalk, CT, 3/10/2012
- Dan showed up to our wedding in the middle of a blizzard!! He risked life and limb to make it to our ceremony. He arrived with class and grace. His talent is endless- our guests were amazed by the uilleann pipe music. It set the mood for our whole wedding day. Through all of the wedding planning he was a great support and was very flexible with anything we requested. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars on everything because he was THAT GOOD. I would recommend him to anyone anywhere anytime. He is a fabulous musician who pays close attention to his audience.
-The Marums (newlyweds!!) -- Merri J, Uxbridge, MA, 1/21/2012
- Highly recommend. Dan accommodated special music requests for my wedding ceremony. He is knowledgeable and gave many helpful music suggestions, as well as supported my specific requests. His skill timing, and transitions were perfect for our presession. He created a beautiful atmosphere, and I received many compliments from guests. I would happily hire Dan again, and recommend him to others. I am very grateful to him for being such a vital part of our wedding ceremony. His music really made it extra special. Thank you, Dan. -- Lindsay O, Wells, ME, 9/17/2011
- We hired Dan for the cocktail reception at our wedding. He was fantastic! He was very professional and accomodating throughout the process. Our guests raved about him! We made sure to plan our pictures so that we could hear him at the cocktail reception, and we were so happy we did! If you hire him for your event you will not be disappointed! -- Michael W, Narragansett, RI, 6/26/2011
- I hired Daniel as a surprise for my cousins wedding. I wanted him to be a surprise not only for the groom, but all of the guests. Daniel was very accommodating and he was a HUGE hit! The guests and groom were surprised and blown away. He was great! -- Julie W, Chelmsford, MA, 5/14/2011
- Dan, was amazing. My mom had passed away and this was a very difficult time for my family. Dan made things easy for me, he worked with me to find the appropriate music. He was extremely helpful and accomodating. Furthermore, his music is incredible and it added to the beautiful trubute to my mom.
I hope to use him again in a more uplifting event.. -- Sam F, Revere, MA, 3/7/2011
- We were absolutely thrilled with Dan. We used him for my mom's birthday party and he was a hit. He is not only talented; he is professional, reliable and flexible. As an event planner, I understand the importance of that combination. I highly recommend him! -- Tara E, Sudbury, MA, 10/17/2010
- I am thrilled to have the oppportunity to share how wonderful Daniel Meyers was at our recent event. Daniel played at the cocktail hour at my bother's wedding ( which we hosted at our home). Daniel was prompt, professional and very approachable. The guests all enjoyed Daniel's music and many musicians(wedding guests) enjoyed speaking to him as well. I would highly recommend Daniel Meyers to add a special touch of class to any event.
Linda Johnson -- Linda J, Weymouth, MA, 9/19/2010
- Actually, on talent, Daniel should get a 10, he is a phenomenal player, his knowledge of the instruments exceptional. The Pipes, IMO, are absolutely beautiful when played well and if not, can be a trip to Dante's Inferno. Daniel's command of this intricate instrument is exceptional.
First experience with the Uilleann Pipes ( Irish )for me & this congregation, as well as tin whistle and low whistle. He is a professional musician and a wonderful person to be with and work in the context of a church service, not always easy. The feedback from the congregation has been the same. His rapport with people just as wonderful in explaining the Pipes to them afterwards. -- Randall R, Roxbury, MA, 9/5/2010
- We hired Daniel to play uileann pipes during the cocktail reception of our wedding. Being from Ireland, I had high expectations for a piper and Daniel surpassed them all. We had left the music selection to Daniel, and he made the perfect choices. We got several comments from guests at the wedding about how good Daniel was. We would highly recommend Daniel to anyone else looking for a very talented uileann piper.
Dónal and Gina. -- Donal D, Waltham, MA, 7/16/2010
- I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great Irish tunes. He not only played the pipes but also a variety of tin whistles. He finished with two particular requests: The Marines Hymn and The Parting Glass (which he sang). Outstanding! -- Jerry M, Wrentham, MA, 3/20/2010
