- I had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Fred Payne play at an event and knew he was the only choice for our church's 9-11 service. Mr. Payne is very professional and accommodating. He worked with our Ministry Director on song selection and gave invaluable tips on what would work best for our event. Many people commented that, for them, he was the highlight of the service. - This is my first engagement of an individual piper. (But I've attended many gatherings in California and Nova Scotia.) The event was a memorial gathering of family and friends of a late "chief" of the family.
Fred Payne, the Champion Piper, was OUTSTANDING in all aspects. His poise, choice of dress and music selection was excellent. He performed for more than two hours (breaks included). - Fred was very professional and accommodating even when faced with bad weather and a very nasty wedding coordinator. He made every effort to ensure his music sounded great in blizzard conditions. Apparently bagpipes are sensitive to the cold weather. He was easy to work with and was able to accomodate our requests with little preparation and still sound amazing. - The champion bagpiper made the wedding. We were outside with the ocean roaring behind us. The flowers were beautiful as was the bride. When the bagpiper played everyone gasped. - Fred was a wonderful addition to our International Day at school! He was a "surprise" for the students, and there were many tears in teachers' eyes as he piped in the parade of 36 flags. Fred then played while the 3rd grade girls danced a Scottish Country Dance - the girls had not practiced to live music [ since it was a surprise ], and Fred matched their dancing very well. - Champion Piper was on time, courteous & flexible with our schedule as our timing of his participation got bumped a bit. His piping skills are excellent & he played an array of tunes, strathspeys, jigs & reels, slower pieces, Scotland The Brave & Amazing Grace.
