About Vendor

Learn more about this vendor for your event.

Professional, Dignified, Distinguished ...Mark Boesmiller believes that the purpose of the Bagpiper is to convey these ideas to his audience, and the purpose of his music is to touch their soul. There is no music more powerful than that of a well-played bagpipe; whether to convey joy at a wedding, worship at a church service, or loss at a memorial or funeral. Mark currently plays with Charlotte's ever popular "Charlotte Fire Department Pipes and Drums Band." He is also a member and competes within the EUSPBA (Eastern United States Pipe Band Association); having placed in 12 of 13 competitions this last season as well as winning "Piper of the Day" at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games (Grade IV). Mark began his music career on the piano, studying, performing, and competing Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary piano music and music theory for fourteen years. After joining the Fire Department, Mark fell in love with the traditions of bagpipes in the fire service, and with all things bagpipes. It is his passion. With his previous musical experience, he quickly excelled at the bagpipe. Mark has played numerous funerals, weddings, parades, memorials, graduations, formal balls, golf tournaments, award ceremonies, church services, competitions, sporting events, and most notably twice on national TV at the Coca-Cola 600. Mark plays the Great Highland Bagpipes as well as the Scottish Smallpipes. The Great Pipes are bold and powerful; whereas the smallpipes more quiet with a sweet, mellow tone. The smallpipes may be more suitable in smaller indoor venues where the Great Pipes may be too overpowering. Tunes on each instrument are available in the audio sample section. Any tune may be played on either instrument. Mark guarantees a quality and enjoyable bagpipe experience, decked out, of course, in traditional Highland Dress.

Wedding CeremonyReviewed on May 27, 2013From Chimney Rock, NC

Mark did a wonderful job and was perfect for our wedding day. As complicated as the situation was considering we were organizing this from out of town, he was very accommodating and extremely helpful. Were we ever in the area and needed a piper again, we would use him again. Oh, and his playing is simply splendid!
