Hi there! My name is Jeff and thank you for stopping by my profile page! Several years ago, while waiting for an oil change at my mechanic's garage, I found myself sitting in front of my mechanic's turtle pond (he is a cool mechanic) strumming my guitar (I usually bring it with me everywhere). A family with two children arrived to pick up their vehicle, and while the parents went inside the office, their two children came out to where I was sitting, to watch the turtles. Inspired by the way the turtles were swimming around, I began to make up a song about the turtle lifestyle and what I imagined it to be. What do turtles do when they are relaxing? Do they go to the beach with their friends? What color cars do they drive? While singing this song, one of the kids became super interested and began to sing along with me on the chorus: "I like turtles, turtles are cool!" At one moment I glanced over my shoulder and saw the parents watching our musical interaction. Before they left, the mother thanked me, explaining that her daughter had Autism and it was very rare for her to sing along to a song and that "The Turtle Song" had brought her great happiness.
I was floored to learn this and I was inspired to rethink my take on Children's music. I was heavily involved with creating my adult contemporary acoustic pop (gotta love tag words, right?) and decided that I would write my first children's record. I believe that music can be helpful to a child (or anyone of any age) regardless of the challenges they have in life. Music has this magic ability to transport us to a place of amazing emotions.
After writing, recording, and producing my record for kids: "Songs about Turtles, Wolves, and Stan the Man: Music For Kids Who Get It!" I began to perform in schools and for private birthday parties as well as in local libraries throughout the greater Los Angeles area. I find it to be tremendously fun to arrive at a party, and watch the process as the children slowly get involved, and then by the end are yelling and screaming and dancing along. Performing for kids always helps to remind me about how important it is to let loose and have fun!
When I am performing a birthday party I like to find out the favorite songs of the child and customize my playlist to ensure that they will be happy and dancing! I also have a portable battery system that allows me to set up in parks and backyards where there is no access to power.
I look forward to meeting you and performing for your child and all their family and friends on their special day!
