Description
The alternative band, The Ghost Ballerinas, have been called 'modern day troubadours'. They've made an incredibly bold statement with their 11-song sophomore album, "Play Me On The Radio" which was released in April 2012.
The band features Cameron Burnette on guitar & vocals, Justin Berry on bass guitar and A.J. Vanderpool on drums. The Ghost Ballerinas originally formed as a garage band in 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee. Well, actually they're from Smyrna, Murfreesboro and Shelbyville to be exact and if you know anything about this area, it's not far from where a man with the initials J. D. started making great whiskey a few years back.
Like Tennessee whiskey that gets its world-class taste from being hidden away year after year and blended ever-so-slowly by time and patience, the flavor of The Ghost Ballerinas' music comes from years they spent scribbling song lyrics into old school notebooks and from the countless nights they made raw noise come from of old cheap amplifiers. Back then they fell in love with Radio Head, Nirvana, The Beatles, Lead Belly, Johnny Cash, The Raconteurs, The Black Keys, White Stripes, Del McCoury, Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters. They were inspired by Primus, Tool, The Avett Brothers, ZZ Top, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Kings of Leon and Mumford and Sons.
They're not as polished as the best Scotch, but who the heck from Tennessee drinks Scotch, anyway?
So for those of you who have all been wondering what time and patience will do to a few teenage musicians with old school notebooks full of bad grades and lyrics, pull up a seat, turn it up and a get a taste of some flavor made right here in Nashville. Some of the songs were written in a day - others they started when they were fifteen years old. They've been waiting a long time to share them with you.
Just like a mason jar, they don't have a fancy label but they got the best fans, friends, and supporters in the world. They especially thank their family who bought their first guitar and drum set. To them, family is more important than fame, money or a label. They believe music's a lot like Tennessee whiskey - you're not suppose to keep it all for yourself. So here they are. We hope you enjoy and if you like how they make it down here in Tennessee, spread the word, but don't tell anybody where you got it from.

Band Biography
Born with only one ear in Memphis, Tennessee, Cameron Burnette had become a prolific teenage songwriter by the young age of 15. After losing his dad when he was seven years old, he was given a guitar by his grandfather who purchased it from a pastor in Booneville, Mississippi. Cameron later moved with his family near Nashville, Tennessee and was encouraged by his step-dad and uncle to continue playing guitar and writing music. Growing up on a mixture of Folk, Grunge, British and 60's Rock, and heavily influenced by music of the 90's, Cameron's songs are both distinct and unique; his music is an eclectic blend of the many genres, which shaped him as a musician. His melodies and lyrics are inspired by the rawness of Cobain and the simplicity of Cash.
Bassist Justin Berry was born in South Bend, Indiana while younger brother, A.J. Vanderpool was born in Fort Pierce, Florida. While still very young, they moved to Bell Buckle, Tennessee where they grew up. These two brothers got their start in music during their pre-teen years and have been musicians since ages 11 and 9.
Justin was inspired by the great bassists Les Claypool, Paul D'Amour and Robert Deleo, and brings a grungy sound to The Ghost Ballerinas - not only in his bass playing, but also in his songwriting abilities. Justin learned to play bass from his grandfather who spent an incredible amount of time working with him on his musicianship. Justin's writing style appeals to the darker side of music, which adds a unique flavor to the band's otherwise catchy tunes. A serious musician who knows how to hav

Feedback
- Cameron Burnette & The Ghost Ballerinas are awesome! The nicest guys in the world and they made this a VERY special concert for Kelly who is battling Leukemia. I can't say enough about how wonderful their music is. They rocked this event for Kelly, played for free and donated every one of their album sales to our benefit. This was a tough week for Kelly who had a bone marrow transplant the day before and goes back in for chemotherapy next week. Dedicating the song for Kelly and bringing her up on stage for photos was beautiful guys! The band members are absolute sweethearts. Best new band I've heard! ***** LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM! ***** Thank you guys! -- Maria R, Antioch, TN, 8/6/2011
