Born in Los Angeles, violinist/violist/composer Samantha Gillogly began her musical training at age six on the island of Martha's Vineyard, and now holds a Bachelor's in Performance, summa cum laude, from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Fluent in an extensive list of classical repertoire, from Adams to Zelenka, she is also an avid fan and performer of traditional Irish, Scottish and other Celtic and roots genres. As a soloist, she has appeared on NBC-TV's Chronicle news magazine, performed for President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush and for President William and Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton, and concertized in numerous recitals, competitions and private functions throughout the U.S. From 2007-2011 she was the principal violist of the Boston Civic Symphony, and in 2008 joined Billboard's chart-topping composer, Tim Janis, as a violinist in the Tim Janis Ensemble. In 2009, she was a member of the innovative Youtube Symphony Orchestra, which performed live at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Michael Tilson-Thomas.
Samantha's latest recording projects include the 2012 crossover album "Celtic Chamber Music" with pianist Tim Maurice, and two digital singles: "Misty Mountain" (also with Maurice), and the solo single, "Danse Macabre." Samantha's music is available for purchase on Amazon, iTunes, and CDBaby.
Samantha is available as a soloist on violin and viola, as well as a member of chamber duos/trios, folk, and jazz groups coordinated to suit your special event.

"We hired Samantha for our wedding of 40+ people to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour. She was very accommodating as we changed the time on her somewhat last minute and also moved her playing location a few times, in part due to adverse weather. We largely gave her freedom to choose the songs and she made great selections. Her music was great and everyone really enjoyed it.

"We booked Samantha for Grand Roll-Out Celebration hosted by Sbarro, the world's largest mall pizza and Italian food chain. Samantha did a wonderful job playing classic Italian music and contemporary songs for our guests to enjoy. Not only is Samantha a fantastic musician, but she did a great job of working the crowd. Terrific music and a wonderful vendor to work with! We couldn’t be more pleased and we would definitely recommend Samantha as a solo act and we hope to have Samantha back again. "
