Rob Fletcher performs jazz, blues and vintage pop throughout New England. An exceptional vocalist, chromatic harmonica player and guitarist, he performed original music at Woodstock '94 (350,000 attendees), the International Festival of Arts and Ideas, the National Guitar Workshop and at the legendary Bluebird Café in Nashville. Rob has performed with Trey Anastasio of Phish and opened for the Crash Test Dummies. The New York Times has described his original music as "soulful to funny".
Rob is the author of several music instructional books including Blues Grooves for Guitarists and Blues Harmonica for Beginners (Alfred Publications). He transcribed two harmonica albums in their entirety - Kim Wilson: My Blues and Charlie McCoy Gospel Harmonica (published by Kevin's Harps). He was a master teacher at the National Guitar Workshop for over a decade, teaching guitar, harmonica, voice and songwriting. He co-taught with two-Grammy Award nominated and W.C Handy award winning blues guitarist Ronnie Earl in large (50+) student settings, as well as co-teaching with Juno award-winning blues guitarist Sue Foley.
Rob Fletcher is also the founder of [Quixote Consulting], a corporate team building company that incorporates the power of music to create effective teams. A seasoned public speaker, Rob has traveled to almost every continent on earth, helping motivate over half a million people in the corporate and non-profit sectors with his friendly, positive, upbeat music and message.
Rob currently studies with four-time Grammy-nominated vocalist Karrin Allyson as well as Eugene Uman, the Director of the Vermont Jazz Center. He recently studied with National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Sheila Jordan and vocalist Jay Clayton. He has previously studied with jazz guitar greats John Scofield, John Abercrombie and Ralph Towner. Rob has a degree in jazz guitar performance from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
He performs with Toast of the Town Jazz, Fly Me to the Moon: The Sinatra Sound, Shag (a male-female vocal harmony vintage pop band), Harmaniacs harmonica trio (lead, chord and bass harmonicas!), and a variety of jazz, blues and R&B bands up and down the east coast.
"It was a lovely spring evening on the shore of Wenham Lake. My friends and I were attending a fund-raising dinner for Project Adventure, a non-profit educational organization where we all work. We were there both to support the organization and to enjoy a delicious meal, prepared by well-known local caterers. I had heard that there would be music…old Sinatra tunes or something.
What I didn't know was that I would be completely captivated by it. When I think now of that evening, I remember Rob Fletcher, so fetching in his top hat and Sinatra-style suit…but it was the resonance of his gorgeous voice, his natural effervescence, the scintillating accompaniment and the lovely, old tunes that I will never forget.
Within moments, the audience was completely rapt and, before long, they were swooning and singing along. It was positively magic… a great night for Project Adventure and for all of us. I just hope I get to 'fly to the moon' again sometime soon."
"On behalf of the staff and management of the MIT Endicott House, I am writing to thank you for helping make our client Holiday Party such a resounding success.
The ambience of the restaurant blended very well with the Frank Sinatra theme. We felt it was a nice compliment to the overall festivities of the evening.
In addition, I must compliment you on the ease with which you mingled with our guests. It has been a pleasure working with you, and I wish you much success."
-Rose Consigli, MIT Endicott House Conference Center
