DESCRIPTION:
Award winning solo blues and acoustic entertainer from the mountains of North Carolina. My music spreads across many musical genres with acoustic blues being at the heart of everything I do. If you have a venue that provides live music for your patrons, then I'd love to bring my one-man-band show to your stage. For some reason that I still can’t totally figure out, my shows are always a big hit at private and corporate parties, at festivals as well as the few pubs that I play now. I’ve been called “North Carolina’s own Keb Mo’”, “The best damn drummer with his feet in the world”, “More blues and soul than a white man should be able to have” and the former editor in chief at Rolling Stone magazine said “All the best parts of Delbert McClinton packaged with a ton of personality and showmanship”.On the flip side, or B side as they used to say in the days of 45’s, I have a great time providing music for weddings, receptions and other more formal private and corporate events. I’m not quite the Adam Sandler wedding singer dude but it’s definitely more lain back and appropriate than my usual live shows. I’ll bring the same guitars, harps and drums, but replace the driving, high energy original blues and folk songs with old standards and current selections from my always growing repertoire of over 600 songs that spread across all genres and styles of music. And although I play many cover songs at these events I always do my own renditions of them and I strive to capture the essence of the mood the song was meant to capture, which is sometimes hard to do for a solo entertainer. I’ve been amazed and honored at how many of you have allowed me to play such an important role in your most cherished events and it continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of my musical career. Owen and his wife were very warm,accomodating, and professional. Owen played for us during the rehearsal dinner and for the ceremony and reception. His prices were beyond reasonable considering he trying all the way from North Carolina to Texas. Our event had family and friends of all ages, and Owen made sure everyone had a fabulous time. Our guests raved about him, and I will definitely consider Owen again should we have another big event. Before the wedding, I was most excited out meeting Owen and experiencing his music, and I was not disappointed. He was a great entertainer.

Well for anyone wanting great entertainment at their event Owen is the best. I have attended many functions with live bands, etc and I can honestly say I enjoyed Owen the best. For anyone not looking at him you would think it was a full band, but it is only him. He performed at my wedding and I had some many compliments on him and I even had other entertainers there. I also had two event coordinators who wanted me to give his information so they could book him for other things. I was so happy with the response....I sure hope that Owen gets more gigs from my guests. If I ever need another entertainer there is no question who I will get....OWEN!!!!!!

Owen Poteat's performance was well beyond my expectations.
I could not believe someone of his caliber would play at my party!
In addition, he is a very likeable guy: friendly, easy to work with, no ego issues. He arrived an hour and a half early to set up.

The best way to describe Owen is amazing. We could not have asked for a better musician to play at our wedding. We requested, a week before the wedding, a special song to be played during the ceremony that he did not know. Not only did he learn it, he blew it away. All of our guests commented on how wonderful and talented he is. If I ever need a musician again for any reason, Owen will be the first I call. Owen arrived at 5:35 for a 7 PM event. He was extremely cordial and easy going during the set-up. He was not overbearing. He was relaxed. His music was perfect. He accomadated all our special requests. He is quite talented as he not only plays the guitar, but the harmonica, and the drums (with his foot). I would highly recommend him to others. He brought 10-15 business cards which were all gone by the end of the night. On top of all this, Owen seems like a good man, a father, a husband, and all that goes along with that. A plus plus!! We asked a lot of Owen: acoustic only for ceremony music, then set up outside for a short reception, then set up inside for a late night gathering . .. he did it all, and wonderfully! Everyone had a great time, and largely due to the music - listening, dancing, hanging out. . . .whatever you want! We even got comments from staff at the Inn the next day about what great music we had going on! It was hard to make the decision to hire someone from only on-line exposure, but with Owen, it turned out to be no risk at all!

Owen performed at our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. He was wonderful. His music was right on target - very talented! My little 4 year old niece loved him most of all. Owen allowed her in her little show girl way, to sit beside him while he played.
Owen played a song that my nephew could sing to us. My nephew is a a formal entertainer on a music scholarship and the two of them (Owen and Tyler) performed the most beautiful song together...without any rehearsal!

Owen Poteat was an absolute answer to prayer. I contacted him at almost the final hour... thus giving him little time to prepare. Without hesitation he accepted the invitation to play for our rehersal dinner and as part of the entertainment for the wedding. He was able to learn the song I requested for the mother/son dance within one week... and did it "perfectly". He was able to appeal to all ages and all taste of music. I would reccomend him to anyone, not only for his talent ...but because he is an absolutely delightful gentleman.
My mother's 80th birthday will be this August and I definitely will be requesting Owen for our muscial entertainment.
