A 5-piece, Blues, R&B, Rock, Roots stew seasoned with Lori's fiery vocals guaranteed to rock you right.
Calaboose is a bonafide Rock and Roll word from 1957 sung by the one and only Chuck Berry in his song- “No Particular Place to Go”…“Ridin' along in my calaboose...”
Lori Zuroff belts out the best tunes of Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Susan Tedeschi, Norah Jones, Sharon Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and Patsy Cline
to name a few. Plus, their ever-growing song list of over 80 tunes includes an eclectic mix of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Little Walter, Junior Wells, Fats Domino, T-Bone Walker, BB King and Albert King, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Taj Mahal, The Rascals, The Byrds, The Outsiders, the Spencer Davis Group, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Steppenwolf, The Standells, and many others. They can tailor their set lists to what you want...torchy ballads, Blues, British Invasion, R& B, Roots, Classic Rock-you name it-from the fifties to today.
A group of seasoned pros, Calaboose has rocked packed houses in Metro West, MA's hottest live music clubs including Patriot Place in Foxborough.
Calaboose is :
Lori Zuroff-Vocals and assorted percussion-
A natural who handles blues, R&B, Rock and Jazz superbly. She was formerly in the 8 piece Second Story Band and most recently at Johnny D's in Davis Square, Somerville, a featured vocalist in The 10th Annual "Chick Singer Night".
Andrew Shiff-Guitar and Vocals-
Andrew's fluid guitar playing, inspired by his heroes from all the above bands, has played all over the area for years in the Regulators, later, The Deregulators- ASCAP recording artists, HBO original film soundtrack artists, and a mainstay at the Framingham Blues Festivals. They shared the stage with The Robert Cray Band and John Hammond Jr. at the Hampton Beach Casino in NH. Andrew likes to switch things up playing a variety of guitars for a variety of tones, including a vintage 12 string. His next addition might be an electric sitar.
Bruce Mattson-Hammond Organ and Piano-
In the three decades that he has been around the New England jazz, blues, and rock scenes, Bruce has had the opportunity to play with some great local, national, and international artists including legendary soul blues singer Toni Lynn Washington, at Foxwoods Casino, Johnny D's, Chan's, and the Sea Note. Bruce has done stints and one-offs with guitarists Troy Gonyea (Fabulous Thunderbirds), Mike Williams (the Bruce Katz Band), Chris Fitz, and Chris Stovall Brown; blues harp master Jerry Portnoy (Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton); horn players such as Charles Neville (Neville Brothers), Doug James (Duke Robillard), and Sax Gordon Beadle; filling in for Bruce Katz himself with the Bruce Katz Band. He most recently went to CA for a week to play organ in the Greg Allman Band!
Bob Vabulas-Bass and Vocals
Bob has played all over with a lot of top professional players including New Orlean's own great tenor sax man, Amadee Castenell, who was featured in the HBO original series TREME.
Skip has played with the likes of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Dan Ackroyd, Alex Taylor, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, James Montgomery, and more, as well as first call drummer for Phil Greene, legendary Platinum and Gold record producer-engineer (NKOTB, Marky Mark, Peter Wolf, Roomful of Blues, Billy Cobham, etc.) at Triad Studios.
