Radha Botofasina

Radha Botofasina,brings together the diverse influences of a lifetime to her music for a unique mix of world music, which is both sonically sophisticated and uplifting. An accomplished vocalist in the jazz, Latin and Sacred music traditions she is also an instrumentalist on harp.
Radha brings to her creations the pastiche of her musical and spiritual odyssey which has taken her around the world.

Radha began her vocal studies while a student at Goddard College in Vermont with Joyce Kadwell. She continued under the tutelage of Martin Lawrence in New York City, with whom she studied for five years. At this time, she also studied jazz piano
with the noted pianist and composer Mary Lou Williams.

During her two decade long association with Alice Coltrane, her spiritual and musical mentor, Radha began playing harp. Her love for the harp was immediate and she has used it on many of her recordings. Based in southern California, Radha has played at weddings, memorials, house parties, corporate events and fundraisers..


While visiting London, Radha's interest in world music began. She was encouraged to develop her talents in this direction by the West African band Osibisa and former Fleetwood Mac founding member Peter Green. Over the years, her love of the Indigenous music of many cultures has grown through her extensive travel to Eastern
Europe, India, Spain, Africa, the Philippines, Cuba, the Caribbean, Australia and South America.
As an ardent seeker of Truth, Radha has combined world music and devotion, singing in English, Sanskrit and, reflective of her Cuban heritage, in Spanish.

Through her music, Radha seeks to share her personal commitment to the upliftment of humanity through well-crafted joyful music.
