Description

Frederick James McCray, also known as Salt Lake City's "best kept secret" by those that have been fortunate enough to discover his amazing talent, performs with an unparalled passion that's contagious to anyone listening to him. His engaging style of music is the cummulative result of the jazz, blues, and gospel music surrounding him while growing up in the outskirts of the "Big Easy", New Orleans. Frederick's artistry is displayed with a playful approach, which keeps the listener very attentive to where he's taking the music. The creative spontaneity produced with such soulful feeling will touch the listener in such a way as to make them just FEEL GOOD. Frederick has performed extensively as a soloist nationally & internationally over the past 30 years for Festivals, Weddings, Corporate Events, Night Clubs & Five Star Diamond Lodges/Hotels such as entertaining at the acclaimed Sunday Jazz Brunch and Apres Ski at Stein Eriksen's Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah for 13 years to performing for the Olympic Committee during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. He's performed at "Top of the Pops" in London, England and at the Valentino Jazz Country Inn in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and also the Silahis International Hotel in Manilla, Phillipines. He performed at the Sundance Film Festival for the awards ceremonies hosted by Variety Magazine and also the Fidelity Investments Park City Jazz Festival in 2004. He's been a regular performer over the years at the House of Blues in New Orleans for the WWOZ Piano Night. Feedback

  • Frederick was excellent. He is a great performer and very personable. He reads the room perfectly. I highly recommend him for any of your musical needs. He is truly a touch of class. -- Joni J, Park City, UT, 9/9/2010
  • Mr. McCray is a very talented musician and a personable and thoughtful performer. My guests loved interacting with him and most everyone at the party asked "where did you find him", as they were so impressed. One of my cousins, herself an accomplished pianist, jammed with Mr. McCray and said it was the most fun she had experienced in a long time. There was always a crowd around him, and the music, during dinner never got in the way of conversation. I am extremely pleased with Mr. McCray in every aspect and would definitely call him again. -- Patricia F, Salt Lake City, UT, 12/23/2010
