Description
"Lots of acts play cover tunes, but I've never heard any that sound like the original artist the way you do... and for so many different artists!" This is a real testimonial and a common response to Glen's shows in restaurants, country clubs, parties, fundraisers, conferences, colleges, conventions, corporate events, retreat centers, weddings, songwriting & music performance camps, festivals and more. Glen has performed for venues as diverse as Webster Hall in NYC, Omega Blue Spirit in Costa Rica, the Tarrytown Music Hall in Westchester, the Positive Music Awards in Orlando, Terrace on the Park in Queens and corporations such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. in NYC, and has also thrilled brides, grooms and their families at wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, dinners and receptions. In fact, he often attributes much of his entertaining skills to his decades of experience performing in superb wedding bands (guitar, bass, keys and vocals). Is your event taking place overseas? Glen will travel for destination weddings and other events.
"I thought I'd done it all...then I was asked to perform at a Persian bris...and then another!" ~ Glen

Are you having a beach or Hawaiian Luau themed wedding or party? Glen brings the Hawaiian flavor and the fun with his beautiful soprano UKULELE, playing ceremony dream cuts like "Somewhere Over The Rainbow / What A Wonderful World" and "White Sandy Beach" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, "Hey Soul Sister" by Train, and "I'm A Believer" (a great recessional by the Monkees), while extending the fun with sets including romantic songs like "Blue Hawai'i," "Sea Of Love," "Only You" (The Platters), "Kiss The Girl" (from the Little Mermaid soundtrack), and "Aloha Oe" plus more FUN songs like "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room," "Volcano" (Jimmy Buffet), "I Can See Clearly Now," "I'm Yours" (Jason Mraz), "Love Me Tender," "One Love," "All Together Now"/"Octopus's Garden" (The Beatles) and so many more!

Sought after guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and entertainer Glen Roethel ALWAYS takes requests, and he sings from a deep well of great songs spanning more than six decades, supported by his own deft acoustic guitar (and ukulele) playing, in a voice that his peers on the international circuit appreciate:
"Glen's music put me in the mood..in a space...before he even started singing..." - Jeffrey Gaines
"I LOVE his voice!" - Penny Nichols (Jackson Browne band, Jimmy Buffet "Coral Reeferette")
"Monster musician!" - Kenny Edwards (Stone Poneys, Linda Ronstadt)
"Sounds great!" - Billy Joel
"How do you know so many Beatles songs...and play them so well?!" - John Redgate (Paul McCartney in Beatlemania on Broadway & in Japan)
Witty, energetic and very approachable, Glen always finds a couple of opportunities in a show for 'volunteers' to come 'help him sing' up on stage (always to the delight of their friends).
"I had such a great time!! You're a natural! When can you play here again?!" - Club owner, Nyack, NY
For company events Glen often works information about employees and staff into the show, and may spontaneously improvise an entire song about a situation as it's happening at the event. Want your event to pop? Tap into his intuitive knack and have Glen write, record and perform a custom song for your event—whether it's a corporate "roast and toast" or a family commemoration. Name any style of music. Just ask your meeting planner how much fun that would be!
"Glen has that gift which brings out a spark in people." - Amy Tuttle, Long Island Music Hall of Fame, Folk Music Society of Huntington, NY
Glen is frequently heard on Public Radio, Ireland Free radio, the BBC and more, and has been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson, James Taylor and Jason Mraz in his vocal and guitar styles.
"A great voice!" - John Platt, WFUV-NY
"Just GREAT..... Performances 'straight from the heart' ! ! !" - Jean Alain Roussel (Cat Stevens, Celine Dion, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Thin Lizzy, 10cc, The Police)
He has released two solo CDs of family-friendly uplifting songs: From Beginning To End (2004) and Smaller Things (2008), as well as one with his folk-rock harmony trio, Gathering Time, Songs Of Hope And Freedom; Glen has co-written, co-produced and performed on three children's CDs (one which has won awards: Paul Helou, Bears, Bees & Butterflies), and added vocals and guitars to The Eight Voyages Of Nep by Penny Nichols, Traveling Salesman and All In Good Time by Joe Iadanza, Postcard From Antigua by Josh Joffen, as well as several singles by various artists. He is often requested as an accompanist on guitar or providing harmony (already performing, this year, with artists from NW Canada to Costa Rica: Penny Nichols, Lisa Aschmann, FREEBO, Faith Rivera, Harold Payne, Sue Riley, Greg Tamblyn, Angela McKenzie, Josh Joffen, Shannon Modrell, Nathen Aswell, Marcy Baruch, Yvonne Smith, Teri Wilder, Steven Pague and more...)
In a concert setting, his warm, inclusive style often inspires sing-alongs and play-alongs, clapping in time, and frequent dance parties... as unlikely as that may seem for one acoustic guitar and vocal.
Glen tours the eastern US mostly, making appearances at various listening venues, festivals, conferences, spiritual conventions, private parties, concert series, restaurants and fine dining halls, colleges, radio stations, churches of many denominations, town festivals, performing arts centers and public libraries.
His act can be tailored to your needs (soft rock, party music, original music, songs written just for you, or all of the above), depending on your audience's expectations and the needs of your event.

Feedback
- Glen was amazing at our 4th of July BBQ. The weather certainly didn't start out as ideal and Glen rolled with it and provided great entertainment. The performance only got better with the weather. Glen was professional, courteous and great with everyone at the party, especially the kids. I think he had my infant niece mesmerized with the ukulele. A great time was had by all and I had to get a stack of business cards from Glen to hand out to everyone who wanted it. All in all, a great time, and we're looking forward to having Glen back at future parties... -- Ernie S, Monmouth Beach, NJ, 7/3/2011
- Very accommodating, extremely talented, and an incredibly smooth and entertaining performance for our golfers cookout. Sound system was also perfect. Would highly recommend Glen! -- Dave S, Eastchester, NY, 5/5/2012
- Glen performed for our rehearsal dinner on Cape Cod and was wonderful! It was great working with him-- he was extremely accommodating, professional, kind, and fun. -- Kerrie L, Falmouth, MA, 6/18/2011
- Glen was professional, easy-going, warm and so talented. Our guests (from the teenagers to the oldest generation)raved about his performance and his set lists. He kept in touch with us during the months of planning and worked with us to make sure everything went smoothly. He even played my favorite song when I was sure to hear it. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a special musician for their event. I will hire him again if I have an occasion to. -- Melissa O, Nesquehoning, PA, 6/25/2011
