Description
SOLO GUITARIST FOR SPECIAL EVENTS AND WEDDINGS...
**********************************************
Doug is a versatile solo guitarist with decades of performance experience and a repertoire of favorite jazz and pop classics. Five star reviewed he frequently performs all over Central Texas for special events, weddings, corporate functions, restaurants, wineries, rehearsal dinners, wine bars, private parties, etc...
With the highest standard of professionalism he works closely with his clients to ensure they have the best experience possible and the highest quality music for their event.
*********************************************************************
Doug started playing guitar at age 14 in Corpus Christi, Texas. His first interest was of course rock and roll. Listening to 70s and early 80s rock bands he learned all he could until he was introduced to the blues. At age 19 he attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi where he studied with Chester Rupe, a seasoned veteran of jazz and an outstanding guitarist. Rupe had a big influence on Doug as well as many other musicians that hailed from Corpus. Through that connection Doug met and performed with local musicians where he was exposed to other styles of music such as R&B and Tejano. When he turned 21 he started experimenting with other instruments such as harmonica and saxophone which he played in local blues bands.
In 1989 Doug moved to Austin to expand his musical environment. With the huge variety of music Austin had to offer he continued to learn new genres of music and new instruments to play. Bass is one of those instruments that he quickly learned to master playing in jazz, funk, rock, world and country bands where he honed his skills learning from some of Austin's finest musicians.
