The Tampa Spiritual Ensemble is dedicated to presenting The Tampa Bay Area with quality recitals, concerts, and Black History programs that feature celebrated and rising African-American composers and performing artists, as well as providing an impressive array of education and outreach programs.
Yetta Bednarz Full Lyric Soprano earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Temple University and Masters degree in Music and Voice Performance from University of South Florida. She has performed Candide, Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicci and the Mikado and was soloist for The Seven Last Words and the Messiah. She performed in various concerts throughout Philadelphia, New York and Tampa Bay area. Her most recent engagements include performing highlights from Phantom of the Opera and Madame Butterfly with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra. She sung with Opera Tampa, St. Petersburg Opera Company and South Florida Lyric productions. She performed concerts with the Bel Canto Opera Singers and the Andrea Bocelli Tampa Forum Concert.
Shenita Berrian Dramatic Mezzo graduated from The University of South Florida with a degree in vocal performance in 2006. Since then she has been one of the featured mezzo-soprano soloists for The Richard Zinlinski singers, The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Renaissance Singers, and Opera Tampa. She has performed a soloist for The Messiah and various productions with Opera Tampa. Her most recent performance was with South Florida Lyric Opera in their production of Trial by Jury, where she played the role of The Usher. Shenita has been a conductor for the annual Hillsborough County Fine Arts Festival. Currently, she teaches elementary music at Robles Elementary where she conducts two choruses and an award winning drumming ensemble. She also volunteers at her church teaching Sunday school and leading several music programs for children.
Nicole Rebelo Full Lyric Soprano has sung in various Opera Tampa productions and with the Masters Chorale of Tampa Bay . Ms. Rebelo most recently participated in the Andrea Bocelli concert at the Tampa Forum.
Nicole Evans Dramatic Mezzo Soprano received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Studies, Voice Principal, from The University of South Florida. She sung in various Opera Tampa productions and most recently she sang in the mainstage production of Porgy and Bess with The Princeton Festival in Princeton, NJ. Evans sings as a featured soloist for local churches.
Diego Iglesias Full Lyric Tenor is a graduate of ICP - Instituto de Capacitación Profesional in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He loves singing. He loves life. Born in Argentina, he has performed in very important Theaters and Concert Halls in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and here in the United States. He has studied with great teachers such as Carmen Sensaud, Giorgio Paganini, Armando Krieger and is now a student of Giorgio Aristo, singing the repertoire of the Italian Tenor. He sang in the Andrea Bocelli concert at the Tampa Forum. He also sings with The Spanish Lyric Theater, Opera Tampa and Bel Canto Opera Singers.
Eddie Crockett Lyric Tenor from Lakeland graduated from Lois Cowles Harrison Center for the Visual and Performing Arts and University of South Florida where he received degrees in Music Studies and Music Education. Mr. Crockett has sung with Renaissance Singers and has been a featured soloist for local churches.
Joel Mercer Bass-Baritone is Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Saint Petersburg College. He holds Masters and Bachelor Degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from The University of Florida and The University of North Florida. Joel has performed with several of the leading choral ensembles in the bay area which include the Richard Zielinski Singers and the Tampa Bay Master Chorale and regularly sings at the classical music festival in Eisenstaedt Austria where he has performed many of the major works in the choral repertoire. In addition, he has sung in the Tampa and St Petersburg opera choruses. Most Recently Joel was seen in the South Florida Lyric opera's productions of Pagliacci and Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury and I Pagliacci Joel sang the role of the villager.
Jonathan Milton Bass-Baritone is a Freelance Writer and Correspondent at Tampa Bay Times and Freelance Correspondent at South Tampa Magazine. He graduated from University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Law/ Political Sciences Continuing Education and Master's in Marketing and Branding. Mr. Milton has sung in various Opera Tampa productions and has also served as a community instructor for the Florida Orchestra's outreach program teaching music theory, instrument technique and music appreciation.
We sing SATB acapella music as well as accompanied music and our entertainment packages can range from 30 mins up to 2 hours depending on your event.
