40's Music
|
Where are you looking to hire a 1940s Band?
You couldn't tell it at the time, but 1940s music was laying a foundation for what would come in another decade: rock-and-roll. Although more refined than bebop jazz or boogie-woogie, 40s big band music was what the crowds craved. At the hands of Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey and other famous bandleaders, the formal instrumentation of an orchestra and the rhythmic vocals of 20s and 30s black jazz singers collided to offer a very particular 1940s music style. A typical big band ensemble consists of five saxophones, four trombones, five trumpets and four in the rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar and drums). However, many of the performers found at Gigmasters.com offer alternate staging (with five to seven pieces) that doesn't require as much space. From anniversary parties to banquets and other special occasions, 40s big band music offers a variety of well-loved ballads and dance tunes everyone can enjoy.
